The very first encounter can set the tone.
[sblock=SPOILERS] When I ran it, the monk (a broody-loner type) decided he would keep watch outside while the rest of the party went into the farmhouse. The farmer told him "they're coming... you're going to die, and we won't open the door for you!" but he was convinced he'd be fine. So when seven fast ghoul minions rushed him and took him to 4 HP before he could even scream, and he looked at the farmhouse with its boarded-up windows and realized he was alone, there was some very real fear around the table! Fast undead are way scarier than slow undead.
He used a daily to kill a bunch of the minions, then action point and crane's wings to get to the roof.... where he soon discovered that the ghouls have a climb speed! Fun times. Our party was level 2; I de-leveled the adventure appropriately and they spent the entire adventure in a state of acute paranoia.[/sblock]
