If you want to disable Looking Glass' ability to jam transmissions, why not just cut the power cable lying on the beach?

Maybe that's not a power cable.

I'm wondering if they'll even use it at all at this point- they seemed to be really trying to hammer home the notion that Charlie was going to die in this episode, and that seems to have been the dramatic function of his ring, to me- to get the audience to feel sure that he was going to bite it- and then he doesn't.

I was pretty sure he was going to die myself (from some of the promos I'd seen), but when Desmond told him that if he did, then Claire would get rescued, I was like- well, he pretty much can't die, then right? I'm pretty sure no one's going to get rescued for a while yet- the show's got three more years. :)

I think Desmond was lying to Charlie and he will get shot in the opneing scene of the next show. Then we will subsequently find out that was Desmond's vision all along. If the new girl is not a rescuer, but actually an Other, maybe the Others have a helicopter that we have yet to see that they will now use to come grab Claire and the baby.

Whatever happened to the ominous "We're going to have a Locke problem" (. . .)

I think that hole got him.

Also interesting is that they are *women*... were they part of the fertility study?

My thought is that they were pregnant and ran from the Others so that they could try to have their babies without dying or being injected with who-knows-what. I'm thinking there's babies or small children down there - maybe since it's offshore, the curse against pregnant women doesn't count - and that's why they can't leave (babies/children can't survive deep water pressure and can't hold their breath)?

am I the only person who thought "it's the One Ring!" when Charlie's brother gave that thing to him?

Actually I just thought that Merry was the one who never touched the ring. And he played Merry .. I found it ironic :P

Good one. It was two women who came at Charlie with guns.

It's coming, it's coming. Jack could see the personality conflict way back then... it's only beginning to manifest.

True, Locke will replace Ben as the Shaman and will try to prevent them from leaving the island. Heck he is already going down that path by blowing up the sub.

Which hole? The one he is in or the one in him?

It's funny how Charlie gets the most awful episode ever (Fire+Water) and then gets this one.

He still might die. The next episode is the season finale and apparently all the Lost Season enders have people die.

Correct me if I'm wrong but in the Ben flashback episode we never found out what became of his female friend who was around the same age. I'm thinking that she ties in with the women at the underwater station.

I shall not, because you are not.

I was wondering about her during that episode as well, such as if he let or die, if she was dead before that (say during childbirth).

I believe she died just like the everyone else.

Since they didn't outright show her as dead, I suspect you might be right. Good call. :)
