Lost 05/16/07 "Greatest Hits"

Nice. :D

Since they didn't outright show her as dead, I suspect you might be right. Good call. :)

What if Ben knew about the plan for the Others to kill the members of the Dharma Initiative....but he had that girl, his friend, who he didn't want to die? He convinces her to hide out in the Looking Glass, then tells the Others' a story about the place being flooded, in order to keep them away, and leave her living in safety?

For that matter, what if they were lovers, and she's the whole reason he's so big on finding a cure for the "dying in childbirth" thing....to the point that he's willing to kill to solve the problem?

Correct me if I'm wrong but in the Ben flashback episode we never found out what became of his female friend who was around the same age. I'm thinking that she ties in with the women at the underwater station.

Could be, but the way he was looking at the doll she had given him in his flashback leads me to believe that she's either not around any longer or else was one of the people he betrayed when he let the Others into the Dharma encampment.

Given his personal interest in the childbirth problem on the island, his off-island recruitment of Juliette, and his adoption of Alex, I'm inclined to think that Annie probably died giving birth to his child (who also likely died). Just my theory, though.

I said it on TWOP, but the episode should have ended with Charlie sinking into the water. It would have been a lot more poignant.
And a total rip-off of "Open Water" for similar thematic reasons. It was much better them hitting us with this curveball.

I know you're a techie, but not all of us have the motivation, or in my case, money, to afford TiVo.
TiVo is less complicated to set up than even a standard VCR. Plug it in, plug in a phone cable, and it takes care of the rest.

Now, if you don't want to pay the subscription fee, that's another story. I don't know anyone who'd go back to life without TiVo once they've gotten it, though.

Anyone else notice that this was the first time that we didn't see Desmond's flashback? He lied to Charlie about what he saw. I'm not sure the truth of it, but he knew he had to get Charlie down there for some reason.

Great episode. Seeing where the cable goes gives me hope that they aren't just making stuff up as they go along and never getting back to old mysteries.

The thought of the fertility women fleeing to the Looking Glass makes sense, especially considering the fitting symbol of a rabbit.

Predictions for the final episode...
Locke will live (be resurrected? It would be fitting) and overthrow Ben.
Very high body count...Bernard for one is dead plus many others.
Charlie lives.
We find that Libby is doing a triple double-blind backassward cross that makes no sense to anyone but her.
Claire looks hot.
Kate looks hotter.

Libby? She got Michael to shoot her with blanks, faked her death (perhaps with the aid of a medusa spider), crawled her way out of her grave, and then headed to the four-toed statue to awaken the elder god Losthulhu?

Or did you mean Juliet? ;)

Yup... good one.

I'm liking your RPG group comparison even more when I think of it. I suspect the "Lost" group is one of those groups that is always passing notes to the DM, and not sharing information with the rest of the party.
