But he kept stressing that she, and she alone, must raise the baby. In that regard, he didn't seem crooked to me.

But I like how Claire and Charlie are assuming that the psychic meant for Claire to be on the island. They don't really know, of course, if his abilities are legit, and the show isn't saying that psychics are real. It may all just be a coincidence. Or it could be more. I like the ambiguity here.

Yeah, he really didn't seem crooked, although that doesn't prove anything, of course. He also could have been nuts, but that's not really effectively any different from him being crooked.

And yeah, the ambiguity is good, and also crucial here. We _don't_ know what to make of the baby. But I'm not convinced there's anything special about the baby at all. We'll have to see what it does when it's born.

I wouldn't like to think the psychic was crooked. It would ruin the supernatural feel.

At the time he just felt crooked, but then when it showed he was bothering her for months...it seemed somethign else. But like the series has done since day one, it feels supernatural and not at the same time.

OK, so who do you suppose "Ethan" is... the French woman's kid?
Also, the name he gave, Ethan Rom, sounds familiar.... it's probably an alias, but is it the name of somebody famous?

To me the first thing that came to mind was Ethan Frome by Edith Wharton, but I can't find any symbolism from this like what we got from Locke.

Another great episode.
Loved having the multiple story threads going and weaving together at the end. Seems like they'll be able to do that more as the characters and island get fleshed out.

I saw the manifest / Ethan thing coming as soon as he was interviewed. (Helped that there were rumors long ago that someone wasn't from the plane.)

I agree that it looks like Ethan might be the French womans son. Also can someone confirm for me, wasn't Ethan the one who was helping Locke hunt a couple episodes ago?

So what does Locke really know? Remember he did appear to come face to face with the "monster". Did he pick up Ethan at that time?

Anyways can't wait until next week. :)

I think the psychic meant for them to die on the plane or at least knew they were never ever getting off the island. It is the old Hilter thingy, classic stuff. :D

They did not cover what happen to Sadin! Arrrrrrr!

Yeah, I wonder if the psychic knew they would live through the crash.. IE ok, to save the world from evil baby, I must kill the girl... But I don't know for sure obviosuly...

Continuing my theme from last week I looked up the meaning of the name Ethan and also Daniel and Alex. They're all Biblical names.

Alex- Defender of Humanity.

Ethan- Strong willed of the island. (interesting eh???)

Daniel- God will judge.

Kind of cool huh?

Really? That is interesting.

I thought this was a pretty good episode. If the psychic's legit, he's pretty clever -- gets her on the plane so she'll be trapped on the island, and have to raise her baby.

Ethan-wise...very cool. This nicely answers who clocked Sayyid on the head, I think. I'm looking forward to some action next week. I'd like to see Locke and Sayyid do their thing.

Cool how close some characters seem to archtypal D&D classes -- Locke = ranger, Sayyid = Fighter, Sawyer = Rogue, errr, ah, the hobbit = bard...

(And then there's the brother & sister nobles...)
Guess that's why the classes are called archtypes, though.

Cheers
Nell.
