Lost 12/01/04

Another great episode.

My favorite part though was when Hurley went to Saywer for the manifest. I loved that exchange.

Does anyone have the episode where Sayid is captured recorded? I believe there was a scene where Sayid saw a picture with Danielle and a few others. I wonder if Ethan is in that pic?

I have to accept the psychic as genuine since there was no indication otherwise. I have to wonder just what kind of monster Claire is carrying that would so rattle the psychic. The first time he meets her he freaks out. At first I thought that was because he saw her stranded on the Island but didn't want to tell her. When she comes back however he tells her she needs to keep the baby no matter what. Not only does tell her that, he stalks her for 4 months over it. Now I can't see this reaction coming over the kid having a troubled childhood and breaking the law somehow, his reaction is too great for that. If it was that the kid would be another genocidal hitler type it probably shouldn't matter who raises it as long as it ends up in a good home. There is something very special about this kid (devil child, super psychic, or some other paranormal aspect) that requires Claire to raise it or something super bad will happen to the world. The paranormal aspect to the kid was reinforced by the pens not working. His initial freak out being the kid and not the plane crash was confirmed when he came up with the plan to trap her on the island himself (I don't see him tryiing to kill her). I was beginning to get bored with the series, but this whole thing has perked me back up. I know they are trying to give multiple explanations for things, but in this case I don't see how they can back out of this story into a non-paranormal explanation.

You missed The Roman.

Someone on another board brought up the fact that if you look up Roman 8:15 in the bible it has something about adoption... But I haven't actually looked it up myself.

Well, one of the meanig of Rom is:

Pronunciation: 'rOm
Function: noun
Inflected Form(s): plural Rom also Roma /'rO-m&/
Etymology: Romany, married man, husband, male Gypsy, from Sanskrit domba, doma low caste male musician

Well, the ROM (Royal Ontario Museum) is a famous museum in Toronto, which I believe is where Ethan claimed to be from. I can't see how that'd be relevant unless the guy was familiar with city Toronto and decided to fabricate a false identity quickly when he was asked by Hurley for his bio.

Personally, I'm not yet convinced that Ethan is the mysterious non-passenger that Hurley discovered. I think that's what we're meant to believe, but it just seems to obvious; a red hering. It seems like kind of a wasted oppurtunity to have the non-passenger be someone who's been introduced just this episode. I mean if Ethan was meant to be a significant and dangerous/mysterious character in upcoming episodes, why not introduce him sooner and make him more interesting? Hurley had obviously met the guy before so why not introduce him sooner in the show, foreshadow what's coming and give the audience a chance to notice that something is a little unusual about the guy. When he was finally revealed to be a non-passager it would have proved to be more rewarding/surprising to the loyal viewer.

I think the non-passenger must be someone else, someone we've already seen. If it is Ethan, then it seems a bit lame and contrived to me. :\

Oh, and Hugo "Hurley" continues to rock! :D

Hmmm... he has Roman features. Now what the heck does The Roman want with the baby?
Or, OR THE MAN - which makes no sense. :\
Am throne
Ma throne
Throne am
Throne ma

Or, R.O.M. Ethan mean anything as far as computers go?
