[LPF] Into the Wilds Part 1

Snorri Ironaxe, Stonelord (Paladin 1)

[section]
Snorri gazes at his axe, twisting it this way and that as he marvels upon it. Positioning against the wall at the opposite side of the stairs, he nods at Brog,

Kepli Stormborn

Kepli listened as the rest of her companions regrouped after the combat.

"There are more just ahead. Just beyond the light. If any of you are wounded, hold back and I'll see what I can do to aid you."

Before the advance, Kepli reached out to Snorri and lightly touched him on the shoulder. "May your ancestors watch over you."

Brog Strongheart

Brog winces for a second as the shaman's words remind of the blow he had taken as the pain of the strike finally reaches his brain. While not saying anything out loud, so as not to alert his foes to his current condition, he does pause at the top of the stairs as he points to the large gash on his leg.

Regar crosses his arms at his companions dismissal of the goblins as a dangerous threat. "They held us up for long enough didn't they? In addition, may I point out that the flaming ogre trap was in fact quite intelligent and resourceful? Goblins normally are cowards yes, in that they normally only fight in numbers. These ones however KNEW they were outnumbered, yet they still fought against us. You CANNOT label these ones cowards. I fear there is more to them than meets the eye! PLEASE would you all just LISTEN to me! Flying mounts, complex traps and in addition an unnatural bravery not usually found in goblins indicates to me that there is something more to this. It would not surprise me if this goblin General were in fact a HOB-goblin. They have been known to make things like this happen in the past.

They use brute force and cruelty to force goblins into military thinking, uniting tribes through military rule, stripping away many of their weaknesses. The ogre trap is likely an indication of the generals intelligence, the couple of goblins we fought here are probably purely part of a sacrificial outpost designed to draw complacency from intruders. A runner has probably been sent away whilst we were distracted so that those ahead could prepare.

The overconfident intruders then move in further and then BAM, a real show of their force will ensue, high up ranged attackers, traps and some sort of hammer and anvil manoeuvre. What wouldn't surprise me is if they have secret tunnels somewhere close by so they can manoeuvre around us from behind."

Regar turns and points casually at the dwarves, one Hand on his hip. "In FACT, you Dwarves normally know your masonry! Can you see any signs of secret doors or something?" Regar smiles emphatically, beaming at his companions as he awaits their response. He stop momentarily and looks around himself for any secret doors to tunnels etc. He takes out his scorpion familiar to assist him "Ok spike, secret door search, c'mon boy!"

"Let them come!" Snorri challenged, bearing the brunt of Regars tirade up until his suggestion of dwarven ineptitude, then turning his head to look back at the mage, he chides "Stay yourself," And pointing with his axe above Regars head,"Ya see 'at niche up there, tis a peephole, I saw it, pointed it out to Brog, and if ya had been paying attention to the front line, ye'd've become aware as well. We ere noticed, any surprise compromised, and now yer spat will have woken the whole lot of em!"
"Now, let's form up!"

Regaining his temper, "Aye, am sure there may be all sorts of hidey holes in ere, keepin a wide eye on it." Slowly scrutinizing the stonework as he returned his attention to the passage ahead, he looked at Brog, "I cannae heal ya, but I'll hold the next batch," he stated with a thrust of his shield.

As the party creeps forward to the north, they come into view with a set of goblin barracks. The goblins inside look a bit scrawnier than the ones that the party had just fought, but they were donning weapons and crude armor, and there were nine of them in total. As the party came into view, they snarled at one another and began to shout jeers and challenges at the heroes.

OOC: The goblins are acting tough, but are hesitant to advance as some are still trying to strap on armor correctly and don helmets.

Kepli Stormborn

Kepli moved up next to Brog and took a look at his wound.

"Not as bad as it could be, I suppose, but still painful looking."

She reached out and placed her hand upon the wound letting positive energy flow into it and knit the worst of it. She removes her hand and looks at the result and frowns. "Not as good as it could be, I suppose, but it'll have to do for now."

Maenor Thandgur

[section]

"Now that's more like it!" Maenor's expression is one of excitement. He rushes towards the unprepared goblins. In mid sprint he runs his fingers down the length of his blade, which seems to hum with energy at his touch. He spins on his heel as he reaches the closest goblin and delivers a vicious spinning slash. He ends in a low stance, off-hand outstretched with his blade held above his head.

"It's enough. Now there are more rodents to kill." Brog says quickly before moving to the heart of the group of goblins, looking to create as much chaos and disarray as possible as they struggle to prepare themselves properly. While he doesn't say anything, the look of death on his face makes it very clear what his intent is.
