M&M 3e Re-recruitment - (closed)

Doh! I didn't even look at Sustained since I was thinking that going from none/permanent, for an effect that has no particular disadvantages when perm, to reaction/continuous was essentially an even trade. After all, the difference in utility, aside from being able to take certain flaws on the power is close to nil. But looking at Sustained now, its clear that the rules system sees it differently. I'll adjust some stuff.

As for the constructs, the severe disadvantages of the mindless quality sounds like cause some hilarity to ensue . But for the dangerous Warbot and Bombots, is it OK to buy them with the controlled extra? My thinking is that they would be very precisely teleoperated, but that the other Robot Minions! have such variety that precision isn't achievable, causing them to do stupid, but hopefully hilarious, things.

Background for the Singularity

My so called peers called me mad. But I showed the those myopic ivory tower fools! My Mind-to-Nanocloud System is not merely a technological revolution but a revolution in how humanity interacts with his environment. And the fact that my unveiling of the true power of my breakthrough ran into ... difficulties, does not change that fact. Was not the Secret Service, even the vaunted might of the US military helpless before me that time when I kidnapped the President? Yes, the League rescued him and encased me in a vibranium faraday cage. But who else could have escaped such a prison?

Even the League was stymied by my cloaked orbital base. World governments forbid them to act because I held all the cards. Due to my brilliant plan, I could have sent every satellite in orbit crashing to the earth with but a thought. My moment of vindication had arrived, and the United Nations was about to proclaim my base a sovereign nation, when they, also arrived. The aliens ruined everything! But I should point out that it was a while before they found my ingeniously hidden lair. The greatest nations on the planet fell before I did. So it hardly matters that for the moment I am forced to work with that glorified B-lister Dr. Destruction. Its just a temporary setback, before I achieve my true destiny. For it is I The Singularity that shall re-conquer the earth and guide the human race through the coming technological singularity!

Sorry, I got the flue and I'm still recovering. This slowed down posting a bit:

Current applicants:
Singularity

Dynamo

If you are going to make changes, please edit the posts I just linked. They will be considered your latest revision.

Dynamo looks good.

Voidrazor, please answer honestly:
How are you going to play this game? Currently, your character could just sit in the safety of a secret HQ and you actually play a construct character (PL10 / PP150) who got mental abilities, feats, skills, resurrection and will immunity for free.
If you intend this, no problem, just build the construct and add the far removed controller just as a complication.

If you intend to play differently, please explain how you you envisioned the character to work in this game.

This is no accusation or anything, just me wondering.

Well, he's wildly overconfident, hopelessly dramatic, and has a pathological need to be the center of attention. So unless circumstances made it clear that being in the middle of the action would be suicidal and counterproductive, he'd want to stay center stage with the group. Once in a while he might want to be near the action while sending a Bombot replica of himself. But that's not a trick he would try often.

SO how's things?
VR & Graybeard Characters just waiting someone to look'em over?
I believe @Whran posted interest earlier too, you still interested?

Yes, Dynamo looks good. But I would prefer for the powers to list the actual effect.
Ranged Damage, not only Energy Control, for example.

I still have some headaches regarding the Singularity. I could really use some player opinions on the build.

Well as both a player and frequent GM, here's my thoughts.
Short version:
I hate to say this because its a great concept but I Think singularity is too powerful and versatile for this campaign. I've had games where he'd be a good fit but he's built for a different style than the other characters in this campaign.

More in depth analysis:
Singularity seems to suffer from a case of superman syndrome - he can beat practically anything unless there's kryptonite involved at which point he becomes dead weight.
It's fine if he's hanging out with similar types, but for joining a group like this.. it's like superman running around with the x-men. They aren't exactly pansies, but in a team with him... he might as well carry them around in a big glass box labelled "break in case of kryptonite"

After another look through of what he can do, I'm certain that with moderate imagination he could single handedly complete any of the challenges we've had so far.
Between being nigh invincible, capable of summoning 3 separate types of minion, mass scale create and transformation powers, high intelligence, and even a variable structure you'd be hard pressed to find a role he doesn't fill.
He seems like an exceptional villain/boss, or a great solo character but I don't see him working very well on a team that isn't built to the same theme.

It's similar to my initial critique of dynamo - he has powers that entire balanced characters would be built around added on as a 1-point extra. Create and transform, specifically are on the GM warning list, and he's got both of them at incredible power levels as alternates to his multiple summons (another thing many GMs are wary of by itself), and uninterrupted by all his other stuff.

Also on a mechanical note, I've had lots of people complain at me that using increased mass on transform or create is wrong. Can't recall WD's take on it but figured I'd point it out.
