How well does this system handle high power levels? Like the Thor or Captain Marvel? Anyone know of any websites that have conversions of characters I can look at?

The first link is all Dragonstar and the second doesn't work. Thanks anyway.

On the Neo site, check the side navigation bar for "Supers", and it'll lead you to where you want to go. Be aware that Neo tends to stat characters at a very high power level - too high for some people's tastes.

The valdier site is down, unfortunately, and likely to remain so. It may pop up elsewhere within a month or so, though.

Your best bet is to comb through the old threads on the Mutants and Masterminds boards on Green Ronin's website. There are numerous conversions, but you may have to dig.

Heh this is a comment I've seen twice before.

But in defence of my conversions I'll explain why they turn up the Power Levels they do and they go from low to very high, and that is simply this.

The Conversions I do represent the actual Marvel Heroes and Villaisn they portray, the skills, powers and statistics they have they have, I research almost every Hero or Villain beforehand and it was from this that i came up with my conversion rules. The PL's aren't predetermined they are exactly what the Hero or Villain ends up after the costs fo what they have and what they can do is added up.

What I don't do is make conversion to fit a starting group of PL10 characters. If I make Venom then what you have is the accurate portrayal and conversion of Venom, not a weakened version of Venom suitable for a starting group. lol

and that is why some of my conversions are very High Power level.

I hope this helps. :)

Hey Neo, have you tried using the 1pp=3 skill points rule? I think that a one for one deal inflates the importance of skills way too much. Using this rule would help bring some of the power levels down a bit, I think.

Heya Starman

I haven't tried the 1PP = 3 skill point method, though I've seen quite a bit of discussion about it on the M&M forums over at Ronin.

To be honest though I think folks place a little too much importance on Power Level, by that I mean you could get a PL20 Villain who is mostly skill or feat based but could be dropped in a single hit from a not particularly Super, Super... but for the same point cost (and hence power level) you could build a villain who is mostly power oriented and who could likely level a starting party quite well. power level as a result isn't really a great way of determining exact difficulty, much as Challenge rating isn't in 3e D&D because it doesn't take into consideration certain factors.

The conversions i've done vary a lot in Power level though some of the high ones like Magneto only end up high most often because of the cost of one power, that needed to be a certain level or include enough extras to actually represent exactly what the villain does with that power. As a result the power level ends up significantly altered because of that one factor, while the rest of the villain in question is still comparable to most villains.

like I say I think people place far too much significance on Power Level especially where conversions are concerned. Your creating something that already exists and whose limits and levels of abilit have already been determined, all your really doing is totaling the costs and presenting it. Its not like a new Hero or villain where you can shoe horn it into any PL you need..well not if you go for an accurate conversion as always do.

I understand what you're saying, Neo. That sounds reasonable.

On another note, how would you handle Wolverine's adamantium skeleton in MnM? Watching X2 the other day got me thinking about it, but I haven't come up with a satisfactory way. Thanks.
