If it hasn't been said before, Neo, you rock! My only complaint is that you don't come out with this stuff faster! You don't need a life!:D

Seriously, keep up the good work.

Starman

Heh thanks! always nice to be appreciated.

As for the slowness in things thats because I have a hectic life :)

On top of all the normal hum drum my day brings I have two groups that each expect me to GM for them every week LOL. and of course then theres the projects I'm working on myself such as the Marvel conversion for M&M, Dragonstar creations and conversion, things for star wars and now on top of that my group is forcing me to write my own campaign world for D&D 3e "World of Anslad" based on thier specification for what they want in a campaign world :) (this was always on the cards anwyas but my group forced me to move it up the schedule)... so as you can see things are a bit crazy heh.. but i get to everything eventually.
I need to update my website too <chuckle>...

I'd get one of those Life thingies but Amazon always seems to be sold out LOL

Good LORD, you are one busy gamer! How are you able to do all that and still work a job/go to school?

I'm currently a full time IT student... and I often ask myself the same question :) I guess things just don't seem to be so much when you love what your doing.

The ease of its removal isn't really a factor and a player need not rationalise it, all the device flaw stipulates is that IF it is removed then the character no longer has access to that power, which is literally all the Device flaw represents.
(SNIP)
But as I say whether it is easy or not to remove is irrelevent if by removing it they lose access to the powers it bestows then it is by the very Definition of what the Device flaw defines a Device.

So, you're saying that Professor X should have the Device flaw, because if someone removes his brain, he loses his psychic powers. Likewise for Cyclops, just gouge his eyes out and he can't fire his optic blasts.

I disagree, I think a Device must be separate from the character's body. It doesn't matter whether it is technological or not, what matters is whether or not it can be lost during normal play.

Erm no i'm not even remotely saying that.

Though if Xaviers brain and Cyclops eyes were artifical and hence devices to begin with then yes totally!

You got the right idea but just not the semantics

And for the record I have never said that a Device MUST be part of the body...just the opposite in fact. so in the regard that a device must be separate from a body we agree. And that is exactly what the adamantium grafts are..separate from wolverines body they are "grafted" and not part of his natural anatomy.

Just thought I'd chime in to say that Neo and I have already had this argument, a bit earlier in the thread. Personally, I agree with you, but let's just let it rest, shall we? :)

At the risk of rousing sleeping dogs, I agree as well - artificiality should not be the issue. Whether or not the Device can be taken away should be.

Note that I don't have my M&M in front of me so I don't know offhand how the rules read on this. I'm coming at it from a Hero perspective, where it's a focus if it can be feasibly taken away, and just a power if it can't. Wolverine's claws and skeleton are the latter - even though they were removed, at one point. I consider that a plot twist and something that doesn't get (and shouldn't be) covered by hard-and-fast rules.

In game terms (in Hero,) I'd have handled that as the temporary removal of the skeleton powers (and making the claws less effective,) and reassigning those points to something else (namely, Regeneration.) Based on the assumption that Wolvie would have evenytually gotten those powers back, which he did. :)
