M&M for Marvel & DC heros.

At the risk of rousing sleeping dogs, I agree as well - artificiality should not be the issue. Whether or not the Device can be taken away should be.

Note that I don't have my M&M in front of me so I don't know offhand how the rules read on this. I'm coming at it from a Hero perspective, where it's a focus if it can be feasibly taken away, and just a power if it can't. Wolverine's claws and skeleton are the latter - even though they were removed, at one point. I consider that a plot twist and something that doesn't get (and shouldn't be) covered by hard-and-fast rules.

In game terms (in Hero,) I'd have handled that as the temporary removal of the skeleton powers (and making the claws less effective,) and reassigning those points to something else (namely, Regeneration.) Based on the assumption that Wolvie would have evenytually gotten those powers back, which he did. :)

Well each to thier own I guess, everyone is very welcome to do thier own conversions after all :) I even provide blank character sheets on my site for people to do so.

Though wolverines skeleton is as far as I am concerned a device. An artifical object which if removed prevents any access to the powers it bestows... which is exactly as the rulebook defines a device.

The Skeletal grafts are not naturally occuring and without them he loses the unbreakability they bestow and doesn't have access to adamantium claws only bone ones. Just because his skeleton cannot be pickpocketed or easily removed is moot as nowehere is that ever a requirement for what a device is some people have simply assumed that for themselves, which is cool really! :)

For my conversion I appreciate the feedback I really do and not everyone will agree with how I have represented certain facets of certain heroes and vilains and that also is cool, and if a valid enough point or obvious flaw is pointed out I will and have make corrections and update the relevant file. However in this particular instance I am completely satisfied myself with how Adamantium skeleton is portrayed in my conversion and see no instance in which the skeleton in question does not comply with the criteria for a Device as laid down in the Mutants and Masterminds rulebook.

However if those of you who do not like how it is portrayed wish to alter that particular aspect of ym conversion for yourselves then by all means, you have my permission to do so and if necessary I can even provide you the publisher Draft form of Wolverines conversion so you can alter it and print it in whichever way you personally would like it for your own games.
