Background: Yamakami Ichiro was born near Hirase, a small village in Japan that is placed in a valley and surrounded by a moutain. His family has always lived on the top of the moutain, and they have lived from the culture of some exotic flowers and rare herbs. They have been a poor family, but they saved enough to allow Ichiro, there first son, to study at the city.

Since he was young, he has trained as a kenjutsuka with his father. His mastery over the sword has allowed him to maintain a great coordination and concentration. He has continued to train once in Tokyo.

He has started his study as a Material Engineer at Tokyo's University. After graduating with a mention, he decided to continue his study outside Japan. Yamakami Ichiro has left Japan to go study in Freedom City. Three years ago, he starts a doctorate in collaboration with the ASTRO Lab.

It is there two things changed his life for ever. The first was the manifestation of a mutation. Following an experiement on radiating some material to harden them, the contact with some irradiated materials has forced the manifestation of a mutation that was laying dormant in his genes. Ichiro has devellop the power to alter around him, allowing him to see distant places and teleport between two points.

The second event that changed his life was the breakthrough in his research. He has devellop a new alloy. Hard, sharp, this material have a great capacity to absorb energy. That has given him some prestige in his domain.

With his kenjutsu skills and his new material and his matution ability, he has decided to build a katana and use it to good use.[/sblock]

Looks good. You need to specify what your Deflect power lets you Deflect (and I can't tell how many ranks in the power you have at the moment)

Your grapple bonus should be +9 (+8 melee attack, +1 Str)

As I also mentioned to Mark Chance, you're too far under your PL caps on Attack/Damage/Defense/Toughness.

Your offense is somewhat weak (only +8 to hit and 9 damage with Improved Critical at one rank). I'd add Attack Specialization (Katana) if it fits the concept that he'd have made time to already specifically train with the katana. That puts him almost at his PL caps, which should be fine.

Then your defense is under your PL caps as well. In particular, a character with Teleportation 10 can easily justify a Defense above 20. I'd add 2-3 ranks of Dodge Focus to what you have now (3 ranks would put you at your caps, given a Defense/Toughness tradeoff of +3/-3).

I'd also seriously consider taking the Evasion feat, as it makes perfect sense for a teleporting character and helps protect against area attacks.

So in summary, add: Attack Specialization (Katana), +2 Dodge Focus, Evasion.

Subtract: OK, this is going to be really easy. You've paid too many points for your Combat stats. You took +4 base attack and +8 base defense, it looks like (plus 2 ranks of Dodge Focus gives 20 Defense). But when you went to calculate how many pp to spend on your combat, you forgot you had already bought the Dodge Focus and charged yourself 20 pp for the base Defense, it looks like. So your Combat Stats should only cost 24 pp, not 28 pp, and you have 4 pp left over to buy the abilities I've suggested above :cool:

It is set in the Freedom City so there are no Tamarans. Though I am sure if you wanted something similiar that would be just fine.

I remember Tessaract and I really liked the character. One of the few characters with Duplication that I could handle.

Menagarie sounds cool but we would definitely need a bunch of premade stats for shapes.

Tessaract has evolved quite a bit since then! But yeah, she'd work well in a team, without being helpless. However! I just realized I pitched her in Jemal's Mutant game...so I should run someone else here. :)

Menagerie I think would be interesting, but we'd have to be clear on the shapeshifting... I don't mind coming up with some presets to save everyone time and effort, but I'd like some versatility too, since that's what you pay for with those powers.

Wendy never had a clue that she was not a Human. Sure, she had heard the stories how she was adopted by her parents and how she was originally found in some cornfield, but it was never really that interesting. Well, she had about the same interest in this as she had in books and schoolwork, which means absolutely nothing. And after her father died when she was 4, her mother never really had the time to talk much more about it anyway, since she had to work two jobs to sustain the family.

When she hit puberty her strength developed rapidly, far more rapidly than anyone else in her class, I mean, there's not many 13 year old girls capable of lifting cars above their head as if it was nothing. At first she was mostly planning on using her newly-found powers for her own benefit, but after one of her friends got brutally assaulted, the girl decided to use her gifts to help her friends.

At first she was mostly embarrassed for being different from the other girls, which was why she used an alias when they asked for her name, but eventually she realized the danger her family would be in if her identity was ever revealed. Her quickly adapted disguises eventually were replaced with an actual costume and a more established identity, that of Supreme Girl.

Supreme Girl has been active as a heroine for about 6 years in New York, but has been more of a local celebrity, rather than one to win worldwide fame. She never finished high school, but instead ended up doing the various odd jobs that someone with her education (or lack of education) could handle. The last few years she has been a salesperson of various things.

When Captain Thunder and Lady Liberty approached and offered her to become part of the Freedom League, she instantly accepted. She has now moved to Freedom City and has with the recommendation from previous jobs, found one as a salesperson of car accessories, a job where her attractive looks makes her well-suited for convincing men (the primary customers) to buy completely unnecessary accessories for their cars.

Can you give us a brief timeline on when you see yourself picking a final group and starting the game?

I hope to pick on wednesday night. Then it depends on how smoothly character creation goes after that. Some have your builds mostly done others not so much. But I expect some will need some rough edges smoothed out. For example issues that you have addressed about meeting PL Caps.
This is the time I will be "hands on" with the builds. But any work anyone wants to save me all the better.
This could take a day or a week. But no longer then a week! I would think a week would be enough for anyone who really wanted to play to get their $#!t in order.

I don't really think it is fair of me to make everyone create sheets and not pick half of those people. But I like to see some mechanics up front so I at least know we are on the same page. If a sheet is good to go I might pick that player because they are ready to play! On the other hand a background and concept might "wow" me but I don't have a sheet. They could make it in too on the strength of their creative skills.

The more complete the character submission the better.


This has bitten me on my butt before but I am very upfront now on what I don't like in my game so that should help.
