Magic Quarterstaves- Double Weapons?

This came up in a discussion I was having.
A quarter staff can be used as a double weapon, but when making a magic weapon (or rolling one) how are they handled in this respect? Generally they are used as a single weapon, but with that possiblity does the staff have 2 "heads" that can be enchanted?
Or does the staff share the enchantment on both ends?

I'm inclined towards it being a double weapon that noone really bothers to enchant the other head of.

Double weapons never have to be used as double weapons; you can just hit people with the same end over and over instead, with no penalties (assuming you're proficient with it in the first place). This means you forgo off-hand attacks, but so be it, especially if you don't have ambi/Two-weapon.

I'd agree with you; if someone finds a Magic Quarterstaff lying on the floor, chances are it's only got one enchanted end. And I wouldn't rule that the two heads share the enhancement, either.

That's how most (60% or so) of the quaterstaff's are found in my games (as very few wizards actually take ambidexterity and two-weapon fighting, so why bother enhancing both of them), though occasionally, you might stumble upon one that actually has both heads enhanced. Likewise, there's the occasion that you might also find a double-sword with only one of the heads enhanced.

The enhancement bonus of a double weapon cannot be shared. Both ends must be enhanced. If just one is enhanced, the other end is not.

If it's the spellcaster's personal weapon, more than likely it will be enchanted on both ends.

Hmm.. this all brings up an interesting point...
If a staff is considered a double weapon, and each head of a staff considered a seperate piece of equipment as far as enchantment goes, couldnt you then feasibly have a staff of power/+5 Thundering spell storing defender? (Total: -- / +9)
for a whopping cost of 392000! (or a fraction of that if you have craft staff and arms n armor...)
