Magical weapon bonuses on other planes

I recall that in 2e, magical weapons lost some of their magical pluses when taken away from the prime material plane. I've been flipping through the DMG and manual of the planes but can't find any mention of that particular quirk having been carried over to 3e. I'd just like to confirm, if possible, that no such rule exists in 3e. Thanks much. :)

I just remember the Sword of the Planes, which I thought was better when not on the Prime (and was better against elementals & outsiders, I think).

Now, you are correct. There were rules regarding this, introduced in the original "manual of the planes", IIRC. I'm away from my books at the moment, so I can't check that out and give you a page number.

And no, that rule hasn't carried over to 3.x. I always thought it was flavourful, although I can understand their reasoning for not keeping it.

As I remember, a magical item weakened the further it was removed further away from its plane of creation. I'll check when I get home, if someone else hasn't given you an exact answer before then.

Sword of the planes is still around, and that is indeed how it works. (Kind of overpriced though, unless you know you're going to be spending a lot of time on the outer planes.)
