Majorly tweaked Hexblade

First Post
I wanted to play a Hexblade in a buddy's campaign, but he tends to run very lethal games and so we decided to tweak the Hexblade. Here are the changes we made:

They now use Warlock Invocations instead of Spells
They always take Shadow Companion at 4th level
The curse goes up to a -8 way down the road

Stuff like that. The main change, I'd say, is the Invocations instead of spells. Any thoughts on this? (see attached)

I like it.

Except for the Medium Armor bonus and the Hideous Blow tracking the same as an Eldritch Blast. 1/3 levels might be better.

I like the Quicken thing but you're stepping on the Duskblade's toes and you can get 3/day with a feat.

I forgot to mention that we got rid of Mettle and Arcane Resistance, which is why we kept the Hideous Blow along the same track as Eldritch Blast.

You're right about the Quicken, it's one of my least favorite points of the design, but we couldn't think of anything else to throw in there, besides maybe granting an extra Curse feat.

As for stepping on the Duskblade's toes, we happen to be adventuring with a Duskblade and the differences are definitely telling; I tend to do my Hideous Blow to keep my damage up, which means the Invocations I take are generally self-buff or something handy (like the one that recreates Shatter as an effect), while he dishes out attack spells and a few buffs.

I agree, though, that someone could instead take a lot of attack invocations (don't really know what those are, but I think some do Earthen Grasp and what-not). The differences, however, are good enough, and a quickened buff at the beginning of combat is always nice...especially while being surprised in the night!
