Manyshot

Using Manyshot feat I can shot 2-4 arrows instead of one, taking penalty on attack bonus.

Typically Manyshot is a way for archers to move and shot more then one arrow in a single round. Can I use a Manyshot as a full round action, not moving, only shoting?

Can I join Manyshor with a Rapid Shot feat?

Manyshot is always going to be a standard action. However, you can choose to not use the move action and just stand there. Rapid shot cannot be used with Manyshot.

(Is it my turn to answer this question? Edit: I guess not. Sorry.)

Manyshot is a standard action. So,

Yes, you can use Manyshot without moving. It is not a full-round action though, only a standard action. If you wish, you can use your move action to pose heroically.

No, you cannot use Manyshot with Rapid Shot. Rapid Shot specifically says that you must use the Full Attack action (which is a full-round action). Manyshot is a standard action by itself, so you can't do it and full attack in the same round.

Using the Manyshot feat is a standard action. This means that you can do this and move, but you don't have to move. I think what you're asking is if you can Manyshot twice in a round - the answer to that is no. Also, the Rapid Shot feat is designed to be used in conjunction with the full attack action (which Manyshot isn't), so no to that one as well.

DOH! You beat me to it :P

You dare challenge the pride of place which rightfully belongs to His Omnipresence, The One and Slime, CROTHIAN?!

I was actually going to ask Thomas's question the other day. Manyshot has always bothered me, particularly with more than three arrows. For a long time, I just didn't see what use it served compared to Rapid Shot, until I realized that it can be used as a Standard Action. Now, at least it's useful, even if it is still dumb, flavor-wise.

Next question (Maybe He-Whose-Posts-May-Not-Be-Counted will let you answer this one): The Scout, from Complete Adventurer gets the Skirmish ability: extra damage when they move ten+ feet. If they move, don't they forfiet their full attack? Do they really have to choose between more damage and more attacks? When does this become an effective strategy?

Or, if you guys don't want to, perhaps Crothian has the answer? [/BUMP]

The scout's Skirmish ability is effective in the same situations as Manyshot; when for whatever reason the character can't take a full attack action (surprised, readied action, needs to move to get line of sight, whatever).

So yes, you do lose out on the extra attacks by moving, but at least the scout is doing more damage with their single shot than a non-scout character with a bow would do with a single shot.

And of course, there's nothing saying a scout can't take the Manyshot feat and use it in conjunction with Skirmish (the extra damage from Skirmish would only apply to the first arrow, just like any other precision-based bonus damage).

Or be mounted, and move while full attacking.

Thanks for answers.

If we're talking about Scout:
Can I combine Scout Skirmish ability (30 ft.), Manyshot feat and Ready Shot feat (15 ft.) from "Heroes of the Battle"?
