Marvel Inc. rise the price

$1.95 was my limit years ago.

Once again, not saying that it wasn't worth it with the great paper and fantastic colors but... as the real world takes over, something's gotta give.

With comics at least though, we have trade paperbacks. Thank god or I'd really be out of the loop!

I think 1.95 (Canadian) was my breaking point back in the mid nineties. I briefly collected BLack Panther but the $4 price tag was just too much.

Even trade paperbacks seem to cost an arm and leg around here.

5 cents is my limit for a cup of java or a funnybook. Why do they have to raise prices anyway?

Okay, gotta go crank up the Model T and go home.

I gave up when they hit $1.00 :-)

Actually, for me, it's the little bit each month thing that drove me from comics. I read novels in a day, the comic barely lasted 5 minutes and then forget about your hero's for a month?
Blah!
Blah I say!

If the price raise is solely on the $2.25 books, I think it's that big a deal and like Alzrius, I have yet to reach my limit on what I'm willing to spend on a single issue (I paid $3 for each issue of Bone for the ten plus years I was following it). It may cause me to cut back on the total number of books I get, but I've been contemplating that for a while anyway.

There a few books I'll get no matter what, so as long as Bendis keeps writing Powers and USM and JMS stays on Supreme Power I don't see a time I won't pick them up.

Whereas I have not reached my limit, it is only because I view comics as my major hobby (I buy gaming stuff of course, but I am pretty selective). I am more upset for what it is doing to the industry. I guess I look at it this way - for kids to collect comics (and keep the industry alive) 3.00 bucks + is a lot of money to shell out for ONE BOOK. When I was a kid, my dad gave me a few bucks every week and I could buy a few comics with that money. But at this point how do they expect to draw young people in?

Nowadays kids won't get a few bucks, they'll get a lot of bucks.

At least that's my experience working in a comic book + gaming store. They dashed out insane amounts of cash, sometimes every week.

The "entertainment industry" is taking advantage of this.
Popular example: Games Workshop - because today their average customer is much younger than 15 years ago, they get away with each and every price increase.

We, as adults, just aren't the target audience (any more?).

Yeah, I witnessed the horror of a roving pack of 10 year olds on a Pokemon Card buying frenzy once. If any of them spent less then $20 on cards, I'd be amazed.

I doubt the kids that were getting the 2.25 comics will blink at the 3 price tag, because they're not paying it. They'll just whine to mom.
