Would Neo know? It was pretty obvious with Smith but he took food from the Oracle twice and then the kiss. What was it that the Oracle was doing, if anything?

He took food twice...but we only saw him EAT the food ONCE. Did Neo ever actually EAT the candy? Not that I saw...

If he did it was never shown, he took it and then it was just gone.

I think at the end, Neo is going to pull off a mask, and it's actually going to be Tom Cruise, but his face is fine!!!!!

As I recall (can't check, brother has my DVD), the kids were potential 'Ones' themselves. Combine that with the fact that they normally don't release people after a certain age, and I figure it's all but a given that if they hadn't been freed already they would have been soon.

There is NO way those kids would be there if they were still plugged in. If they were still plugged in then they could be taken over by an Agent. In the Matrix anyone not with the resistance is a tool of the system and would be dealt with accordingly.
