Well, the second review basically lays out the entire movie, so don't read it unless you don't mind being completely spoiled.

After reading it, though, I have to say this: KingofChaos's sister is completely wrong, but her version would have made a much better movie.

Yeah, right. It could even have Charlton Heston as Moses!

She took all the names literally, has literally no idea of what the true source material for the films consists of (Gnosticism, The Invisibles, Baudrillard's Simulacra and Simulation, etc. etc.), and wrote a half-baked summary that sounds like a cast-off plot from the Left Behind series (which I haven't even come close to reading...but that crud sounds like what I imagine the series to be...Christian Science wish-fulfillment).

Hemlock?! I never touch the stuff!

And one other thing...

One thing mentioned in that long(and definatly interesting, even if I don't agree) theory is the Spoon Kid. No, he's OBVIOUSLY not still in the Matrix as the theory assumes...the Kid said "One of the Orphans told me to give you this", and since you can't get INTO the Matrix unless you're a certain age(well, join a ship at least. But put two and two together, here), you can ACCESS the Matrix. So...the Spoon Kid, and the other Orphans we saw, are probably already OUT. :)

I figured that the Oracle's "kids" were among the first people 'rescued' from the Matrix by Neo - she didn't seem like the type who would just vanish and abandon them, so she probably said, 'here, these kids already know what's up, pop 'em out of their pods and take them to Zion.'

Of course, that's pretty cold if she knows Zion is about to be destroyed. Then again, she is the Oracle, and she always seems to know what choice Neo is going to make...

As I recall (can't check, brother has my DVD), the kids were potential 'Ones' themselves. Combine that with the fact that they normally don't release people after a certain age, and I figure it's all but a given that if they hadn't been freed already they would have been soon.

Neo is indeed human.
He is "the sum of a remainder of an unbalanced equation inherent to the programming of the matrix "
Remember the whole point of Zion is that, while 99% of humanity will accept the Matrix, 1% (or something) won't. While he is human, he is also a byproduct of the Matrix. He is altered as part of the design of the system be the sum of the inherent chaos that arises from having humans involved in anything, and so is the embodiment of human will, and the agregate of their collective subconscious refusal of the Matrix. He is then given the choice of whether to accept the Matrix or reject it, thus giving the same choice to the 1% that reject the Matrix as the rest humanity, and therefore containing them as well, in their pre-built, easily contained Zion.

At least, that’s my take on the whole thing.

Well, entering the opinion poll after the whole thing is blown with the spoiler review which I have not read....

I think little sis wrote a good piece of speculation. She made some assumptions that were "probably" wrong IMO but overall it is a great piece of speculation.

I think Neo is human and that her getting stuck on the "Neo is a progam" probably drives the analysis off course slightly. Also problems with the Orphans and the spoon, we had just heard or hear shortly how many have recently come out of the Matrix so it would not be surprising for the Spoon boy to send a message to Neo.

I still wonder on the Food/Kiss type stuff and how much the code can fundimentally alter Neo and his perceptions of the Matrix?

There is the very interesting question of the stranger in the bar that was raised here in another thread.

Back to the synopsis, Neo has too many Messianic features (Miracles, Prophecies, Resurection, Betrayal, ad nausem) to be a mcguffin. I think he has too be the real deal story wise or we lose too much investment from the previous films.

I wish I had time to sit and really ponder where they are taking this and disect the symbolism, imagery, references, and philosophy but that requires a little more time than I have.

Well judging by the fact that Smith, a program, was able to completely over write (if you will) a humans mind and take over his body in the real world, I'd say it's quite possible for code to have a significant impact on Neo.

Would Neo know? It was pretty obvious with Smith but he took food from the Oracle twice and then the kiss. What was it that the Oracle was doing, if anything?

Most likely not, but as I've learned in the psychology class I'm taking, you don't need to be aware of something for it to effect how you act.

Get him to do what he's been doing, try to free humanity or just do what his predecessors did, reboot the matrix. While it is possible she was feeding him code, it doesn't mean she was. Ultimately it depends on whose side she's on and thus what she's trying to accomplish.

If she's helping the humans, which would seem to be the case (re: Trinity), she would be feeding him things that would help him do so (i.e. break the cycle).

If she's maintaining the status quo, as explained by the architect, then it would be things to accomplish that, while not doing more.
