Meet Zaza - the Will-o'-Wisp Rogue 1

Any ideas on how to create a Will'o'wisp Rogue that would be playable?

eg If I take the HD down to 1HD - does the Will'o'wisp balance alongside other 'races?'

Having no Str score (and thus no way to lift/use objects) what skills could a Will'o'wisp actually use?

Could a Willowisp use the Rogues sneak attack with its Shock attack.

How do you determine Willowisp BAb with no Str?

The will-o-wisp uses its dexterity bonus. (Ironically, I was just looking at these last night because of...) It's an aberration, so it uses the Cleric BAB progression, so +0 at 1 HD + 9 for Dex.

The most unbalancing feature is natural invisibility. For a rogue, I'd say the ability to go invisible would be majorly unbalancing. Not to mention immunity to almost all magic (although that should include healing), and no, just not going to happen as ECL 1.

Despite the advice to the contary (thanks guys:)) I went and did this:

Zaza
Will-o-wisp Rogue
Str ---, Dex 29, Con 10, Int 15, Wis 16, Cha 12
HP 1d8+1d6 Init +13 Spd 50 (fly-perfect)
AC 29 BAB melee+10 SV. Fort +0, Ref +11, Will +5

Skills 40
Bluff (Cha), Listen (Wis), Search(Int), Spot(Wis),
Sense Motive (Wis), Innuendo 7/4+3, Intuit Direction (Wis), Read Lips (Int, exclusive skill), Wilderness Lore (Wis)

FEATS/SQ Improved Initiative, Sneak Attack +1d6, Spell immunity, natural invisibility, Telempathic Projection (DC 21)

EQUIPMENT – None!

Zaza was a curious creature and wondered about what life was like beyond its experience in the marshlands. Most Will-o’-wisp do not even bother to think beyond the immediate need for self gratification, but Zaza felt called to learn and to grow beyond its narrow existence and thus one day when it espied a man lost in the deep fens it did not lead him o his doom but instead aided him, leading him out to safety. This man was a Druid and soon Zaza and he were beginning the rudiments of communication. The man learnt to interpret the flashes and different tints and intensities of Zaza’s ‘glows’, and even the emotions which Zaza was projecting...

WILL'O'WISP
Small Aberration (Air)
Hit Dice: 1d8 (4 hp)
Initiative: +13 (+9 Dex, +4 Improved Initiative)
Speed: 50 ft
AC: 29 (+9 Dex, +1 size, +9 natural)
Attacks: Shock +10 melee
Damage: Shock 2d8
Face/Reach: 5 ft by 5 ft/5 ft
Special Qualities: Spell immunity, natural invisibility, Telempathic Projection
Saves: Fort +0, Ref +11, Will +5
Abilities: Str ---, Dex 29, Con 10, Int 15, Wis 16, Cha 12
Skills: Bluff , Listen , Search , Spot
Feats: Improved Initiative, Blindfight

Challenge Rating: ???? ECL????
Alignment: Usually chaotic (any)

Spell Immunity (Ex): The only spells that can affect will-o’-wisps are magic circle against chaos, magic circle against evil, , magic circle against good, magic missile, maze, protection from chaos, and protection from evil.

Natural Invisibility (Ex): A startled or frightened will-o’-wisp can extinguish its glow, effectively becoming invisible as the spell.

Telempathic Projection (Ex): A Will-o’-wisp can project an emotional state which is be felt by the target subject. The Target subject should make a Wisdom check (DC 25 – ranks in Bluff or Innuendo (which ever is higher)) to determine whether they can intepret the emotion. * This is a new SQ based on the Psionic Power

So what do you all think now! and any guess on an ECL - I'm tending to between+3 &+6 (having no Str is a significant disadvantage which offsets the Invisibility imho)
