Meeting EN Worlders in real life

This was easier to do when there was that old forum titled something like "Meet DND Players in your Area" (i know that was too long, but i know some of you like piratecat have been around since before the switchover) But i met and played with one guy i met in that old forum.

There is the Gamers Seeking Gamers Forum and that basically does the same thing.

I've met the following:
  • Tallarn
  • BeholderBurger
  • Upper_Krust
  • Poilbrun
  • S'mon
  • Miho
  • Ruin Explorer

...and briefly a few others. Most of the above I met at UK GenCon this year. We had a massive EN World D&D game DMed by S'mon. There were some non-EN Worlders as well. I think there were 16 of us in one game. Upper_Krust stayed at my place for the con as did S'mon for a night.

I GOT to make UK Gen Con next year... It's just across the water from Sweden... I wonder how to convince the missus of the neccessity of this? *Walks away pondering evil plan*

en world

3 of my 4 current players were origionally contacted through online posts (though not here) and are in that "eerily familiar catagory" but I'm not really all that surprised. afterall we all have "gaming" as common ground and most of the long time gamers fit the steriotypes. There are some en worlders out there who I'de like to meet, namely Nightfall, Crothian and Graf but I'm in L.A. so there are a lot of miles between us.

Let's see, in person I've met (& gamed with) Piratecat, KidCthulhu, Gospog, fluffaderm, Dr. Midnight, Umbran, Morrow, Chronosome, Conaill, Dareoon Dalandrove and one or two others whose usernames I can't recall at the moment. It's been great. In my usual group I'm the only one who ever GM's so it's great to get a chance to play with some new people on the other side of the screen, and to try some new games.

Your right Rav We should have a Dutch Enworld gaming day next time:)

When are you back from GB?
July...

Though I'll be back for the holidays, I think I'd rather spend them with friends and family... yeah, I know what a sorry excuse for a gamer I am :D

G'day

I haven't met any ENworlders yet (that I know of: damn these pseudonyms), but I'm planning to take a leisurely road trip from Vancouver to Tucson (or Tucson to Vancouver) some time next year, and I'd like to make an series of opportunities to meet people along the way.

Regards,

Agback

GenCon UK has good points and bad. I almost prefer Dragonmeet. It's a bit smaller, but there's a better atmosphere. Dragonmeet this year is in a couple of weeks. Here's the link: Dragonmeet.

It would be very cool if we could meet up. Try to convince Mrs Slime that London is great in November (not true :p ) and that the con is just one day (true).

E-mail me if you can make it with 'Dragonmeet' in the subject line. Here's my e-mail.

I haven't met anyone from Enworld, but several people I know do post here...

However...
last week I had a dream that Piratecat and some of his friends were visiting and staying at my house (not that the house in my dream was this house, but hey).
Things were going ok, until I found my cat hiding in a box. When I went to get him I found he had a big wound on his leg.

I woke up, and my cat wasn't around. I got up and found him and he was fine. It wasn't until I thought about it later that I realised why I had dreamed about it....

Dreaming about Piratecat - a guy named after his three-legged cat, and my cat being hurt.

Oh well. Maybe sometime I'll make it to Gencon again and can meet some of you people.

And piratecat - no more nightmares, please!

Duncan
