MIC - Healing Belt errata?

I think the price is ridiculous vis-a-vis an Eternal Wand of CLW (which as far as I have ever seen is already an excellent value at 800 GP for three castings of CLW per day)

Eternal Wand? What book is that from?

Eternal wands are also now in the MIC. And, I have not check the pricing on them to see if it changed.

I think it's a bad idea to compare a fixed item that can only do one thing with a much more broad item like an eternal wand. It's not really apples to appels. More like apples to something that can look like an apple, or a pigeon, depending on how it is initially made.

And a discount for the eternal wand as well because it can only be used by someone with the spell on their list.

Oh, no doubt the belt is better.

The question really is: is the belt too cheap, or is the wand too expensive? I think the goal with the MIC is to re-do the entire pricing system, so I don't know if it should really be evaluated outside of that. Either you embrace the new MIC world, or you don't use it, it seems like.

I am curious if the eternal wands were re-priced in the MIC if they're in there (mine is not at hand.)

All I know is that eternal wands are a good deal for characters, or at least that when they're available, characters buy them. Eternal wands have advantages and disadvantages over ordinary wands, but a canny group I saw bought one of each. They used the eternal wand until it ran out and if they needed even more healing charges, they went to the charged wand. They calculated that this saved them a little under 1500 GP (they paid 1550, and would have paid 3000 with regular wands only). I also know groups that would have saved even more with eternal wands. Thus, if eternal wands were cheapened, regular wands should have been as well (and I'm fairly confident that regular wands are also well-priced).

The charges make no sense.

1 charge = heal 2d8

2 charges = heal 3d8

3 charges = heal 4d8

But...

1 charge, then 1 charge, then 1 charge, and you'll heal 6d8.

If you're spending all your charges into a single healing, it should be greater than the ammount you'd heal by spacing it out, no?

That being said, I'm SO yoinking this item for an Eberron solo game I'm writing up!

Obviously the price is stupidly low compared to a 300 gp potion of 2d8+3 healing.

But I think the real question is whether it would automatically be a problem in the context of the Core class abilities. To that I would say No.

Yes, it will change the feel of your campaign slightly. Is that change going to be a positive one? I would give a qualified "probably".
