Midnight or AU

Have you seen the AU miniatures? They're horrible, like something out the early-80s Grenadier collection.

Oh, and Midnight all the way. AU holds absolutely no interest for me.

It's funny, but due to what has come out and all like that, while I like AU as a game and as a set of rules, I am less than wild about the Diamond Throne setting. I love the races, the classes, the new magic system, but I already am fiddling with a different setting.

That being said, I've already done Midnight-style campaigns in the past (darkness all around, evil in control, what can a few brave heroes do against limitless evil, etc.) and while amusing for a while, I don't find them satisfying enough to go back to them.

So I guess I am not much help here :)

Sorry I'm late guys. Just saw this thread. :)

MIDNIGHT

If you like dark, gritty, low magic setting in the flavor of post apocalyptic Tolkien, Midnight is the setting for you.

If you don't, stay far far away.

If you're undecided, read the review I just wrote: http://www.enworld.org/reviews/index.php?sub=yes&where=active&reviewer=Ashrem+Bayle&product=mid1

Buy both. Use both. I'm going for that ideal. Besides I promised Ash if I supported his Sage cause he'd make sure to get a deity named for me some day.

:D

I would love to see a Midnight game use some of the better parts of AU. I have both and I like them equaly well and a highbred would be amazing.

Midnight can be oppressive as an over all feel to the campaign, but it just depends on how far you take it. If it turns out to be too much perhaps focus on the fall of the shadow and the slow re-mergence of the gods. Lots of ways to play it out.

Both design teams/companies did a tremendous job on these books and you should get and play both!

Something bares repeating in here....

That sums it up... :)

My vote is for Midnight.:D

Midnight

If you like Tolkein, Wheel of Time, Ravenloft, or Star Wars (the rebellion era movies); then Midnight is your game.

Your players will feel like they're participating in some kind of heroic movie or grandiose trilogy of novels; moreso than any previous D&D setting. And the interesting new twists in how your players will need to think and roleplay their characters will be an eye-opening new experience.
