According to the site, the tourney still has some slots open, so there's hope for me. Anyone have any idea when the doors open?

Sorry, but I haven't received a program. All O know is that my first official activity is at 3 PM in Room 201A where I give a seminar on the LA game until 4:30. After that I'm heading for the Exhibit Hall to see who's around at the Kehaforge booth and maybe assist Alex with demos of the LA game.

Cheers,
Gary

This is the first Milwaukee Gamefest, but I hope it will become an annual event and establish itself as a major regional con that is the place to go for OAD&D gaming;)

Sounds cool! I was checking out the Web site last night and even considered hopping on a plane to try and make it, but maybe next year. The booth and advertising rates seem quite reasonable that I may just have to do this one right after Gen Con.

My birthday anniversary was the 27th. On the day before we had all sic of my children and all six grandchidren too here at our house for a family gathering and massive cook-out. The weather was perfect, and everyone had a splendid time. Way too much food as there were steaks, ribs, chicken, tuna steaks, hamburgers, bratwurst, and franks grilled. Just managed to eat the last of the left-overs for for last night's supper

LOL. Sounds awesome! I used to live in Southern California, but now I'm in New York City so I really miss outdoor barbecues. Oh well, at least I'm planning a trip to go crack some crabs and down some cold ones in Maryland in a few weeks.

On the big day proper things were quiet, as I wished them to be. Just the nuclear family was here--Gail and youngest son Alex. After an excellent dinner I opened a bottle of 75-year-old Armagnac (wonderful!!!), had a Cupido cigar and enjoyed the superb flavor of the liquor in the velvet dusk and early night. When I drink alone I prefer to be by myself... (Actually I shared the Armagnac, but Alex was not much impressed, he being quite unfamiliar with fine brandies.)

Wow, you've got a nice life there, Gary. :)

Oh yeah, my book finally came out, so I'm gonna have to send you a copy!

Thanks, Ed:)

Can't complain a lot, although I do want to cut back on working hours. 60 to 70 per week is getting to be too much for me, mainly because I am missing out on leisure time to read and think about things outside gaming.

When Milwaukee Gamefest is over I hope some folks who went will start a post-con analysis thread. Being a GoH there makes it difficult form me to do that as I am so busy I don't see much outside my small area of activity at the show;)

Cheers,
Gary

We need to make sure we get together and play next year.

This gamefest sounds like too much fun! Also, I got your e-mail about saving me a spot in your game, so it looks like it's going to be a MUST go next year. :) I just hope they don't raise booth rates and maybe consider moving it to later in August so it's not so close to Gen Con again. What do you think about the scheduling?

Ho There!

Ed, I can onlymake suggestions, and the sponsors will have to make the calls. O wonder what weekends the Modwest Express Center will be available next year. I suspect that has much to do with scheduling dares for the con;)

Until the event becomes large and established, Id bet on entrance and booth fees being reasonably low cost for sure!

Cheers,
Gary

It would be nice to have a relatively small show though that is focused on actual gaming. If I can sell enough books to help off-set some of the costs that would be great, but I don't mind swinging by just for the great games! So, growth is good, but not too much, I say! :)

Clearing email before heading for Milwaukee this AM;)

I am pretty sure that the show will be small this year. If it is fun, though, next year will see an increase in attendance.

What would be great from the organizer's prospective is a medium-sized con, a large regional, with sufficient attendees to make running the event profitable, bring in exhibitors, but not si large as to make it impersonal and plagued with entrance and game-slot problems. My guess is that around 3,000 gamers is an optimal number.

Cheers,
Gary

Yeah, Gary. I'm with you on that. It would be good to have a nice number of attendees so that can attract enough exhibitors to the show and keep it profitable for the organizers. I would like to see it more game-focused and easy for pick-up games and such. I plan on going next year. :)

Oh yeah, I'm mailing you a copy of my book today by Priority Mail. So, you'll probably get it by the time you come back from Milwaukee. Hope you enjoy it!
