mindless eating at games

And here I thought this thread was going to be about gelatinous cubes, green slime, gray ooze**, or black puddings.*

*=lurkers above and trappers and mimics are all at least semi- intelligent...

**=as is this one, on occasion

Generally someone will bring something sweet as well as something healthy, and normally we stop for a coffee and tea break half-way through.

we game midweek, there's normally some snacks (crisps & dips) and everyone brings their own drinks (beer for host, soft drinks for the drivers)

the only issue is when someone gets caught at work and arrives with dinner in bag. sandwiches are ok but nuke em burgers or pizza's tend to make me drool even if i've just finished my own food. Having said that when i Dm, my significant other tends to make sure I have at least a sarnie before i start since I'm often late out of work, and will often order a pizza to arrive when I do :-). So its probably the other players who have to watch DM mainlining pizza and cold lager before the game gets properly under way.

I don't tend to eat when gaming. I might have a couple of cups of tea or a beer, but that's about it.

Usually somoene will bring a tube of pringles or a box of cookies, and there are often packets of chocolate sweets lying around; not my thing though.

At worst, if I've missed dinner, I'll grab a sandwich en route and eat it before we start.

I have to be really careful with snacks - I have a tendency to mindlessly munch away without thinking about it. Couple that with a tendency to drink a lot of Irn Bru, and I found I put on a lot of weight a few years ago. So, these days I eat at mealtimes, and try not to eat anything in between times. Also, I only drink water between meals, and indeed at most meals.

Since I travel to the game directly from work, I either order in a pizza or I bring sandwiches. It should be sandwiches all the time... but I don't always live up to my good intentions. As I'm the DM, the game will either wait until I've eaten before it starts, or we will take a break when the pizza arrives. I can't game and eat (at least, not 'proper' food) - I have too much else to do.

We tend not to have alcohol at the game, and I usually have to drive anyway so would have to abstain. However, we often have a Christmas game for which I use public transport. On these occasions, I might have a few.

My group often has a plate of raw vegetables out for snacks, and some weird store brand of diet soda that actually doesn't suck, so I sometimes end up eating a lot better at games than I normally do.

Last time, though, it was pizza, chips, and (hell yes) Mountain Dew.

I'm in college, there is usually an obligatory Pizza and Beer break. Thank God for being skinny.

Just FYI:

Number of years left in college + 2 = number of years until you get fat from pizza and beer.
