Misprint in MM and SRD

EOL

First Post
Hill Giant- Charisma ??
Stone Giant- Charisma 11
Frost Giant- Charisma 11
Fire Giant- Charisma 11
Cload Giant- Charisma 13
Storm Giant- Charisma 15

Okay so now complete the series. Anybody say 11? Nope. Any 9's out there? Also incorrect. No the correct answer would be 17.

Does this strike anyone other than me as a mistake? If it's not a mistake why? What's the reasoning behind that high of a Charisma?

Maybe because the Hill Giant is, I don't know, charismatic? :) Just kidding. Maybe it's for good intimidation checks or something. Who knows.

Maybe they just have a massive ego and sense of self.

Otherwise, I think we're looking at Hill Giant swimsuit models.

You are not alone

I also noticed that when I applied a template to a hill giant. Hopefully it will be corrected before the Monster part of the SRD is fullly released. However, I have not seen any errata on it and I'm not sure who to contact at WotC or the SRD to get it corrected.

It might be more believable it the picture they'd supplied had been more flattering, maybe the Hill Giant had just woken up and in reality he's a regular Greek God. Maybe the stereotype of Hill Giants as big dumb ugly brutes is just racism on the part of elves....

The 17 Charisma is correct, however, the pictures for the Titan and Hill Giant were mistakenly switched. This will be fixed in the 2nd printing of the MM. :)

That's odd, because they describe the Hill Giants as being big and stinky with nasty furs for clothing, which isn't really how the Titan's picture is shown. The Titan looks kind of...well...regal. He surely doesn't look simian. I always thought the picture on the lower left of the Giant group in the MM was the picture of a Hill Giant.

Charisma is not all about looks. Have fun with it, add Sorcerer levels to your Hill Giants. Freak out the PCs.
So Hill giants have the enormous sense of self, perhaps being the smallest of giants it's something of a Napoleonic complex, which gives them huge itimidating egos.... Still doesn't it seem like a stretch, no matter how you slice it?
