We'll use this thread for the Darkness and Light game.

Ash, Jack, Mario (Lichtenhart) and turtle, please post your character stat blocks and physical descriptions in this thread along with your personality make-ups. I've gathered your background info for my own files, so no need to add thaty here, since it is somewhat in flux. We'll also use this thread to Meta-Discuss the game as need be. Anything that goes above and beyong regular OOC stuff we can add to this thread, including rules clarification, new outlooks on characters, general talk about posting styles that might need to take place, etc. OOC stuff, as we discussed, that should be tacked on to the bottom of regular game posts. Thanks, gang! :)

Arthael is best described as "that guy" at the office. You know the one: the "achievement-oriented self-starter". Arthael is looking to better himself, to achieve his full potential. He is adventuring as a way to gain experience and recognition in the world. He is not arrogant, but has a pretty good idea of his own abilities and faults.
Arthael has the build of a cycler. He is in good shape but has a slight build and could never be a weight lifter. He is not really worried about the bigger issues of the outside world. He is more interested in his own progress. In his quest for self-actualization Arthael isn't afraid to take opportunities when they come. In other words, if he beats out someone else to an advantage then "that is the way the cookie crumbles". He is not, however, malicious.
If Arthael loathes anything it is mediocrity and lack of focus. He will be a loyal party member, one who is constantly egging on his comrades to achieve their potential.

For a god I'm thinking Wee Jas or the closest equivalent...

Danmor is the kind of guy everyone wants as a friend. He is quiet, sensitive, discreet, always willing to lend a hand. Though he is naive and inexperienced, since he doesn't know much of the world, he has always a warm smile and a good advice for everyone. While he is very religious, he doesn't pass judgement on others neither tries to convert them, but will gladly talk about his religion if asked about.
He is stout but short and a little fat (don't tell him). He's got blond hair and beard, and sky-blue eyes.

-last edit: wrong conversion kg-lb; he is not SO fat-

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Just under six feet tall, and just under 200 pounds, Jack is a sturdy 25 year old in the town guard. With curly brown hair, faded blue eyes, and the build of the common folk, he's not a fellow to stand out in a crowd.
He has the reliability and common sense of his mother combined with his father's industriousness and ingenuity. Many of his superiors see him on his way to becoming an officer of the guard, or perhaps even a squire. His peers describe him as the "salt of the earth", and the "backbone of the guard".
VERY nice introduction, Mark.
(Can non-participants comment in this thread?)
It really captures the essence of life in your town with the amazing amount of details.
Are all of the posts going to have that amount of reading to keep up with? ;)
edit: I almost forgot!
Erim's dad's situation makes my heart break! LOL
That's one darn depressing reality, man. :(
What's Erim's family going to do once the ungrateful kid takes off with the little bits of money his dad could give him?
How will they survive next year?
His dad doesn't even know if he's ever going to see his son again, other than from the gallow's if he holds to form.
BACKGROUND & DESCRIPTION
Born the second son of a humble farmer, Arim has never been able to stay out of trouble. A year before the adventure began his brother was hanged for thievery, a fate that Arim himself only narrowly avoided. He has friends among the local riff-raff and his natural talent for thievery has earned the nickname “Shade”.
Of late, Arim has grown tired of a farmer’s life and plans to strike out on his own. With the meager amount of coin he has managed to save, he plans to slip away on his latest trip to Jalston and start a new life of adventure.
Arim has long black hair and the beginnings of a goat-tee. His eyes are emerald green and provoke a startling contrast with his otherwise dark complexion. He wears a golden hoop earring that his mother gave him. Favoring dark colors, he wears a dark red cloak over black leather armor. He has a tattoo of a cobra on the inside of his right forearm. He is usually pretty quiet, but has a good sense of humor that often borders on the dark and morbid.
I assume Arim doesn't have any equipment right now and will be buying it today. He is at the smithy's to buy his rapier and dagger as well as other metal equipment listed on my character sheet.
I working under the premise that he's been casually buying his equipment over the last year with the loot stolen by his brother and slipped clandestinely to him. It covers how you came by such funds and allows for you (and this goes for everyone) to be fully equipped (as generated) at the beginning of our game. Nice and neat, babies! :D
(I copied this portion of your OOC over to this thread only because I didn't want you to have and wait for my next game post for the answer)
Thanks, Reap! :) ...and please do post here as much as you like to comment on the game. I only request that, indeed, non-player posts are not posted in the game thread and that you don't kibitz with the players regarding the choices they must make in the game or strategies they bring to bear. ;)
Thanks, again! :) I like my games... I don't know... kinda dirty, or sumpin'... :D
reapersaurus said:
Perhaps yes, maybe no. It depends largely on what's happening in the game at any given time, what information I need to impart to the players (per the needs of the game and per their questions and actions) and how strapped for time I might be on any given day. We'll be playing it by ear but there is a point where too much information can blur the focus of a game and make it hard to find the forest for the trees. *shrug*
*sniffle* Tis true, tis sad. Very sad, indeed. {sarcasm} I almost want to rewrite it and add a fairy God-Mother! {/end sarcasm} :D
His dad doesn't even know if he's ever going to see his son again, other than from the gallow's if he holds to form.
These questions and more may (or may not) be answered in future installments of...
Hey guys... I noticed that we've all taken to using telltale colors to indicate the speak of various characters. It's something I wholeheartedly endorse in a PBP.
Anyway, if you don't want to use the standard colors from the pulldown menu, go here for a list of 140 colors by name.
Jack, for example, is using . Simply type in the name or the number code of the color behind the "=" in the vBcode.
But please, please, please, make certain you pick a color that is readable on the dark backgrounds.
Oh... and Mark, what is the name of our home town?
