Monk with Staff of the Traveler

Ummm, where is that? I can't find it in the PHB or compendium.

Not trying to be troublesome (I know, I know, without even trying...), but I don't see it.

PS

It's in the errata.

Prone
Page 277: Add “You can’t move from your space,
although you can teleport, crawl, or be forced to move
by a pull, a push, or a slide.”

cause... otherwise you'd not need to crawl to move at all.

And crawl is a move action that allows you to move half your speed but you must be prone to do it. Which means not shifting, walking, or running, because those themselves are distinct actions.

Aha! Thanks!

PS

The combo that I'm much more concerned about is Staff of the Traveler + Eladrin Chain. While it's true that monks effectively get an at-will teleport 2 with the staff, they already have at-will shift 2, so the advantage is somewhat tangential -- sure, you get around difficult terrain etc, but it's not a big deal and you're also giving up your weapon slot.

By contrast, Eladrin Chain -- which increases any teleport that you would make by one square -- allows any character to at-will teleport 2 with the staff. This is more disconcerting because not every character should be able to move two squares at-will without provoking opportunity attacks.

No, it allows any character who can use staff implements to teleport 2 at-will with the staff--all of which have some form of teleportation ability in one form or another anyways.

Fighters, Rangers, Avengers, Clerics... need not apply.

Ah, that's true. However, it's incorrect to say that ALL characters with the staff implement have easy access to teleportation. Invokers, for one, benefit greatly from an at-will teleport 2.

True. But that's hardly an indictment of it... it's useful, buuuut... it's not exactly game breaking.

What level is the staff of the traveler, anyhow?

Level 5, 10, 15, etc.

Incisive Dagger, anyone?

What does that do?

Also, can monks use staffs as implements one-handed, the way wizards can? Thus, . . . and I wouldn't do it, because it's silly, but rules as written, could you Dual Implement with a staff of the traveler and an incisive dagger (which google says lets you teleport farther)?
