Still at two, but we are pretty sure there are more. So now we do the waiting game. Goats, like so many babies, are so cute!

A thread about goats! You have got to be kidding me ;) This is a baddd thread and needs to be cropped

Don't worry, once my wife uploads the pictures and I link them to here you'll be won over. ;)
Their cuteness cannot be denied! Can't decide what to name them. Right now it is Silver and Gold (you'll see the obviousness of why when their pics are up). But now I am thiinking Toil and Trouble.

Their mom may not have anymore babies after all, but we have been told if there are it could be another two weeks before she pops them out. Plus she is still looking pregnant, just not nearly as advanced as she looked yesterday before these two came out.

They can have a couple kids and then wait a couple more weeks and have more?

That is what we have been told by people with far more experience then us. This is our first fully successful (IE happy) birthing we have done. Eli's mother died with her second son. So we are glad that we have finally had one go right.

Plus Bramble was killed by another goat the weekend before the Christmas weekend. Of course we did not understand why she died until we did the necropsy and found her spleen ruptured and a hole in her right lung. Well, technically, she died because I killed her, but it made me feel a lot better to know we were right, and that she was definitely dying like we thought. So I did spare her a lot of pain. Still a very tough thing to do, and it still "bugs" me.

With Ethel, Eli's mother, all the blood pouring out of her made it obvious something was seriously wrong. So we knew we were sparing her pain.

BTW, I don't know about other parts of the country, but down here in S/E Arizona there is only one vet who will treat goats. This is because goats are so cheap of a livestock, most owners will let the goat die rather than pay 100's to thousand's of dollars to save it. Absolutely no economic reason to do so. Even so, the one vet is 90 minutes away. So anything goes seriously wrong with a goat, it is going to die, so may as well as make as quick and painless as possible.

That is the reality down here.

Are you mad?!?! Do not give the goats Internet access or they will be butting into conversations worldwide!

:D

Congrats on the additions to your extended family! :)
