Where the hell is a 1st level rogue going to get a weapon worth almost 100K?

It was just an example of the level of damage output. If you wanted it in more real terms then consider the 20th level rogue to be able to put out around 19d6 Subdual damage and only take 1d6 for himself due to Viscous.

Hard to say but just about any person you are going to steal form or maybe kidnap in a city game (which is a possible scenario) might have a hard time taking that much damage. Especially if you consider that you are probably going to do this while flanking. So lets figuer on our 20th level rogue friend flanking to perform such a feat.

19d6 + 1 (magical) x 3 (Attacks) = Average of 228 points of damage. Not bad and that is without strength or crits involved.

Besides guys it was stated as "broken" not realistic, not acceptable by a GM, not within the realms of normal. The term was Broken. If you want something more along the lines of what you define as "broken" then define it better.

Is it a particularly powerful combo at all?

At 20th-level, spellcasters can do fur much nastier things aren't they? Even without metamagic feats, their spells do 20d6+ damages against multiple targets. And of course they will use nastier metamagic when needed. They can cast save or dies spells or even power words. And they can use Miracle or Wish.

And full-BAB str brutes with equally powerful magical two-handed weapon can inflict tremendous damages, too. Remember, at that level difference in BAB is +5. So that +5 attack bonus can be easily converted into +10 damages. With high strength and bigger weapon dices, warriors tend to inflict bigger damages.

Also, I don't think that said rogue can hit a 20th-level characters with equally powerful equipments 3 times/per round constantly.

Mage Slayer feats + Ring of Blink?
You don't miss chance due to Mage Slayer feats but still get to Sneak attack every attack? This isn't so much broken as exploitable combo.

Really, that rogue listed above by VanRichten needs Mage slayer to hit as Wizard (what wizard has no protect spells/items). And the damage isn't broken.

Most of the 20th-level arcane casters can usually see ethereal plane 24 hours/day and some considerable number of non-casters have some way to see ethereal plane permanently or at least temporally.

And this combo works only on planes coexistent with the ethereal plane. So don't work in many planes which higher-level adventures take place.

24 hrs?

What spell gives that?

In case of Sorcerer and Wizard, with only 1,000xp, you can apply Permanency on See Invisibility. Someone with UMD skill can do the same with appropriate scrolls, too.

Also, Warlock has least invocation which gives see invisibility 24 hours/day.

If a 20th-level party can't counter invisible things (including ethereal ones), something is wrong.
