Most Useless Feat

Mounted Combat is a wonderful, wonderful thing. My players have learned to hate goblin worgriders.

I agree. I never used to use this feat but after I gave it to the BBEG who had maxed out his ranks, the P was wasting attacks left, right, and centre on his mount (thinking they could bring him down with it).

The key, of course, is to remember to use it!

Reading all these posts gives me two thoughts.

1) Perhaps it wouldn't be a bad idea to institute a half-feat. This is only for those DMs who have nothing better to do than bookkeeping. :) Feats like Toughness and Dodge might count as half a feat, so players can take two half-feats instead of one full feat.

2) I've seen it come up before that someone has Dodge and forgets to assign the bonus to an enemy. There's no simple way to counter that (other than to give the character a simple +1 bonus to AC against all attacks). But, when the player picks an enemy, the DM might intentionally not have that enemy target that character (consciously or no). So, the player could write the enemy on a card and leave it face-down. If the DM has that enemy attack the player with Dodge, and hits, the player can reveal the card--it will almost never matter (only when the enemy rolled exactly his target number to hit), but it reduces the chance that the DM will use information against a player.

Iron will, great fortitude, lightning reflexes: Do people take these who don't need them for PrCs?
Iron Will is essential in Ravenloft. You have to make will saves for horror every time you see a corpse or a monster etc, otherwise you get nasty penalties and can go insane.

Toughness is so bad I houseruled it to +1 hp / level. Yes, that actually makes it weaker at levels 1 & 2, but after that it starts earning it's salt. It's still not spectacular, but the 20 hp it grants at 20th level isn't anything to sneeze at either.

So basically you've made Toughness the same as Improved Toughness. Do you still allow characters to take it more than once?

Interesting. I personally love the 3 saving throw feats. But I agree that Toughness is weak. I use it for NPC bad guys that I am too lazy to think of anything else for, since one can take it multiple times. And the heroes are meant to be better than the villains anyhow, right?

For other silly feats, I would say improved bull rush in my games. The maneuver is too rarely useful to spend a feat on.

I dislike Sharp-Shooting. Its not useless, far from it, but it's a torment. Take it early or wait and get Improved Precise shot. This adds to the already powerful advantage that characters made at higher levels experience and feels almost like the overlapping hodgepodge that results from adding 3rd party material into your campaign. Blech.

Play a grim 'n' gritty campaign and see how you like Toughness then. At the very least it is equal to three levels of hit points.
