Move and then charge, or *only* charge in a round?

You could use your minor action with your action point-granted action, but otherwise, charging ends your ability to use your remaining actions for the rest of your turn.

True: I think I misread what you stated. Thanks for verifying! In a common usage scenario one could move/minor/standard, then AP and charge.

I've played for DMs in the past who labor under the assumption that the action point action creates a strange pocket of time in which you forfeit all unused actions aside from that which was granted by your action point. They were incorrect.

As an aside, this could be a very cool feat: making a charge doesn't end your turn.

Ooh, I like that!

Dont believe you can take that extra standard action after charging.

Well, AFAIK the official rule is that you can, but many dms (myself included) house rule against it. (Although it might be more accurate to say that many of us ruled against it before it was clarified and then just never changed our ways.)

At least one Paragon Path (the rogue path Daring Acrobat from MP1) grants the ability to take actions after a charge as its level 16 feature. I could certainly see an Epic feat that gives the ability to a single class, like a Barbarian.

Actually, it's a paragon path ability for Daring Acrobat:

Agile Charge (16th level): When you begin a charge, you gain a +1 bonus to AC and Reflex until the start of your next turn. Also, after completing a charge, you can take further actions (if you have any left).

The Warforged Juggernaut lets you take actions after a charge if you used an action point to make said charge.

And there's an Epic Fighter feat, Unstopable charge, that lets you take further actions after your charge.

And the Invinvible Vanguard ED lets you take actions after a charge.

Yep. There are ways around this, of course - the Badge of the Berserker is a well-used way of avoiding the opportunity attacks. But unless you have something special that changes the rule for you, the movement of a charge is just like any normal movement, provoking opportunity attacks as usual.

Let's see how off original topic we can make this thread.

You don't have to charge in a straight line (like 3ed) right? As long as you end up in the closest square available to the target, you can charge around a wall or pit. Am I correct?

Every square has to take you closer to the target.
