Why not just make an attempt at a grapple then? It's also just a touch attack and has the added bonus of you getting to try and grab the sucker before he moves and is lost again.

Agreed. I treat it like the free movement that you get when you move into an opponents square in order to start a grapple. But in this case, since you're invisible, you don't provoke attacks of opportunity...
