Solaire
Solaire and Havok crawled to the crest of the hill and peered down upon the holding camp in the Appalachians of West Virginia. "You know if we pull this off," Solaire began, "the X-Force just might come around to thinking I'm useful."
"We'll be lucky if we even get to the main gates," Havok replied. "But we have to try. If my intel is correct, this is the very facility where Emma Frost is being held, that is, if they didn't kill her already. The Resistance could really use someone with telepathic abilities like hers."
Solaire pulled out a pair of binoculars and focus in on the prisoners moving about in the open air. "Big surprise. They're all collared. Guess we can't rely on any inside help."
"That's not necessarily true," responded Havok. "I hear a technophile mutant named Gadget managed to disable his collar as well a several others in anticipation of a rescue attempt. I'm not 100% sure we can count on them to support us."
"I thought Gadget was dead."
"It's convenient how many mutants have managed to fake their deaths these days. Like I said, I'm not completely certain we can count on my intel, but it's all we have."
"Okay. Well, I'm ready to go as soon as you are."
"Then let's get busy."
With that, Havok and Solaire threw a coordinated burst of energies at the main gate as they rushed the mutant holding complex. Almost immediately, a pair of sentinels flew from the central area of the complex to meet them. "Dammit! We've gotta hurry or those tin cans are gonna do the works on us!" Havok screamed as the two mutants got ever closer to the gate.
"Attention, unregistered mutants!" a familiar robotic voice echoed across the mountains. "Surrender immediately or be destroyed!
"They've got our number, Havok! I sure hope your guys on the inside help us out pronto!"
As soon as Havok and Solaire arrived about 30 yards from the entrance, there was a sudden explosion inside the complex. It appeared Havok's information had been right! Very quickly they saw one of the mutants within the complex fly up into the air and clap his hands together, creating a deafening boom across the mountains. The sentinels were momentarily thrown back by the burst. At the same time, another mutant tossed several small balls of explosive materials towards the main gate. The combined effects of Havok, Solaire and the mutant girl was finally enough to breach the gate.
"Alright everybody, let's hurry!" the mutant girl shouted prompting the rest of the mutants to rush for the gate.
By this time the sentinels had recovered and continued to pursue the fleeing mutants as well as Havok and Solaire. The flying mutant clapped his hands together again, but somehow the sentinels had adapted to his power and were no longer affected. At this, the flying mutant dashed towards the exit with the other mutants.
"Everyone into the mountains! Havok cried. "We'll rendezvous with you after we've held these big guys off!"
The mutants fleeing through the gate did as they were told and scattered into the countryside. Meanwhile Solaire and Havok divided their attacks between the two sentinels. "Aim for their rockets!" Havok ordered. "They'll be much slower if we ground 'em!"
Solaire did just that, aiming his powerful beams of light at the rocket boots of the sentinel he had targeted. Then came some unexpected help from the mutant girl with the explosive pellets. Soon the sentinels were crashing to the ground. As they recovered, Havok called for a retreat.
"Thanks for your help, senorita," Solaire said to the mutant girl.
"Anytime, handsome," she replied. "And you can call me Boom Boom."
