Multi-class skills

If you were a Fighter 1/ Rogue 1 wanting to max bluff with all classes what would be your Bluff skill max at Character level 2?

I'm thinking maybe 4.5, but 3 is in the back of my mind since it being a cross skill for fighters it could only max out at 2.5 at first level.

Class skill Lvl +3
Cross class Lvl + 1.5

Refrences would be great.

I would think it would be 4.5 after all if you were a single class fighter you could spend the 3 skill points to have 1.5 ranks they should add together

Even a Ftr2 could only max out at 3.5 in Bluff. I'm thinking of ruling that you can raise a cross class skill up one full point (2 skill points) per level if it's a Class skill in another class.

max ranks for the fighter/rogue 1/1 would 5 in any skill that was the PC's list.

except for exclusive skills which (only for the rogue in this instance) would have the max rank of: class lvl (not char)+3 and you can only add skill points from that class (iirc). So you would not be able to use fighter skillpoints to raise the rogue's use magic device for example.

... it still costs cc points to add in ranks though ... so even though the rogues max rank in Hide is 5 (char lvl+3) ... at least 2 points from the fighters skills would need to go into that.

... um yeah, bite yourself wolf! ... I hope this helps a little

From the SRD (emphasis mine):
Skills: The character retains and can access skills from all his or her classes. For the purposes of determining the “Max Ranks” of a skill, use the character’s character level rather than individual class levels. When adding a new class level, the costs for new ranks in skills are calculated using the costs for that class. Skills available to another of the character’s classes which are normally not allowed by the class being added or increased are treated as cross-class skills for the purpose of determining the cost of skill ranks.
The way I interpret this, your max rank of Bluff would be 5, but it would cost you 6 skill points.

(E.g., you start out as a rogue and put 4 points into it, then multi into fighter and spend 2 points for 1 more rank. You can keep up with a single-class rogue if you specialize, but he'll have more skill points to spread around.)

Unless you start as a fighter and pick up a level of rogue and dump points in it to raise it to 5 for only 5 points (or something similar).

Yep. The order in which you gain classes can have an effect on the cost of given number of ranks in a skill.
