D&D 5E (2024) Multiclass Ranger Fix?

This is exactly what I mean. They are half casters. So only a small part of their power should be in spells. Making their spells more powerfull than other same level spells just creates potential problems and again does the boring "only spells can be powerfull".

Rangers attack with weapons and roll ranger skills.

Spells that make attacks better or make skills rolls better or less limited is a problem?

That's literally what high fantasy rangers and hunters of other media do.

I'd prefer crafting items and supernatural skill use but that isn't core nor allowed anymore.

But thats where the problems come up and what OP is talking about. That many people feel the 2024 ranger in higher levels compares to other 2024 classes falls off.
Yes, people feel this, but without support in the data.
Everything that can be checked with data from the OP is wrong. That leads to disbelief in other unsupported statements, because there's no data.

Again.

The Foundation of the claim has no support. So all suggested fixes are based on vibes.

Which data? Your data from your own experience which is from 2014 and thus not applicable?

Or your link to data from 2014 games (with average level below 5) which is also not applicable when talking about 2024 high level?

Maybe I should post some "data" from 4E essentials showing the ranger there was not well liked...

You literally did not provide any useful data and behave like you have. You did not even read the thread or looked up what people see as problems.

Taking the amounts of posts about 2024 ranger problems as "data" is even more useful. And that actual data about 2024 and not some other (sub)edition points into the direction that at least perceived the ranger scales badly.

Which other media?

Lord of the rings? Aragorn casts no spells.

Computer games like World of warcraft? Hunter (Ranger) has no real spells only special shots scaling from ohysical attributes.

Other RPGs like Pathfinder 2? Ranger can only get limited spells through choices but per default has none.

Movies like Robin Hood? No spells

Boardgames like Andor? Ranger has no Spells.

The Ranger having spells is really really D&D (subedition) specific.

Not high fantasy

Shooting explosing or death arrows and placing ice and animal summoning traps without magic?

Other RPGs like Pathfinder 2? Ranger can only get limited spells through choices but per default has none.
Hot take: Pathfinder 2 ranger is am alt fighter. And it takes longer to high high fantasy.

Comic book, anime, movie, and literature rangers, hunters, and outdoor survivalist of high fantasy use magic or tech that would be magic in D&D.

I'd love tech and artifice to be core. But its not.
