multiple attack monsters and AOO

I asked about multiple attack monsters and characters, which was explained nicely by others here. However, we didn't really cover AOO's from monster, like trolls with multiple attacks.

If a troll only gets to swing once, with his claw, at full attack bonus, during an AOO, then here's good tactic for my low-level fighter. He has mobility, so he could step 10-15' away and ready a partial action to swing at the troll when it comes into range. This would invoke an AOO from the troll, but he'd get a +4 bonus because of the mobility feat.

Then, the troll would have to move up to him again, and would only get one swing, because it couldn't do a full attack action.

Would this work even better for higher-level stuff, like the Marilith? (I know a +4 bonus from mobility isn't that important at that level, but you see my point?)

It works the same for monsters. One attack.

Remember that a troll is Large and has a reach of 10 feet. He does not have to close to within 5 feet to attack you. He still cannot take more than a 5 foot step and get a full attack, though, so your superior mobility could be a good tactic, although you may suffer a few AoO's for now. Spring Attack will solve that problem eventually. :D

Also remember that AoO don't always have to be a plain vanilla to attack.

If a pesky little Fighter is jumping about, use an AoO to grapple him. See how he likes Troll breath in his face.
