Munskins/Power gaming - Two weapon fighting feat with two bastard sword

I think 2-bastard-sword is a perfectly plausible fighting style (IRL it's perfectly possible) but very weak compared to greatsword with two-handed power attack. I would definitely let the player do this, that -4 to hit sucks & he'll be weaker than 2-h weapon fighters, so if it makes him happy, why not?

Just imagine a fighter with specialization (bastard), exotic (bastard), two weapon fighting and then he use two bastard !!! Outch, monster beware...

A Fighter with Greatsword and equivalent Feats will nail this sucker every time.

You could have used one line instead of eight, there. Just say you're running a restricted magic campaign, and we'll understand.

May I ask why you do this? I'm honestly curious. I find that the party has a much better chance of surviving with more magic, and for me the problem has always been that most of my encounters, even the random "wandering in dungeon" and "dungeon entry fight" ones, have a pretty good chance to TPK.

And you don't strike me as the type to do it so you can deliberately kill your players, either . . . so I'd like to know what you're thinking. :D

Hello,

My campaign world is very magic oriented, all magic item is available. But for powerful item, i want to make them hard to find and make a particular quest if the players want to find them.

I just think that if you have 3 sword +5 in your group, even if this a group of 20th level, this make the sword +5 worth less. When your players will find sword + 5 they will be happy but they will known that they could find one another place.

I don't know if you understand what i mean ?! I just want to make powerful item worth more in the mind of my players...

You do realize that in 3.5, equipment is directly tied to a character's survivability, right?

Apparently not. I suspect he's not played past 8th level.....but that's just a guess.

Equipment availability is tied to PC wealth. At 10th level, a +5 greatsword will be a big deal. But at 20th level? ...no big deal; there are bigger and better things out there. Try a Holy Keen Evil Outsider Bane Chaotic Outsider Bane Cold Iron Greatsword +5. Now we're talkin'!

Demons beware! +9 to the attack roll, no DR, and 8d6+ Str + 9 damage per hit!

...Did I mention I'm power attacking for 5? .......

...etc.....

IOW: don't sweat the small stuff.

If we put aside the rules i just think almost physically impossible to handle two weapon of five feets at the same times.
A 5 foot sword comes up to your chin. That's not a bastard sword, it's a greatsword.

Hello,

I do, people in my campaign have the same wealth they should have according to the DMG.
But they don't have two identical powerful object. We was talking about two sun blade, instead of the second sunblade i'll put in the treasure something else with almost the same market value.

The fact that i dont like to see someone with two sunblade, or two sword +5 doesnt mean i dont give powerful stuff to my players. I just think this very odd to see two duplicate of something that should be very rare almost unique.

The same rules apply to the npc...

BTW i have run many campaign since 10 years now, and i didn't see any problem so far to make harder to find very powerful weapon for the players. I had run many high level campaign and my group was able to kill lich, greatwyrm and so on. I'm not a mighty dm beside some of you who play since the first edition, but i think that i handle my stuff well.

Hello,

Does many of you guys are using these kind of magical item in high level campaign ?
I don't and my players are still able to kill the most powerful monster from the monster manual and i think that i'm using powerful monster at the best of their abilities.

Do i'm missing something about the rules ?

I'm starting to think that i'm all wrong since 10 years :(
