My crazy everything-but-the-kitchen-sink Spycraft idea

First Post
So my players and I have decided we're gonna put our Star Wars game on a bit of a hold while I work out the new plot direction (more on that in a future post), and we're gonna play a Spycraft for a while. So I've been tossing around ideas for what I want to do for this, and I'd like to run them past you folks and see what you think.

** My players please go away now **

The opening scene will be a gathering of the team. I'm going to borrow from the opening diner scene of Ronin as much as possible for this scene -- the characters can be pretty much whatever they want; cops, crooks, agents... I can work it out.

If the players are crooks, then we just borrow the XXX "bring in the lowlifes to work for us" idea... no biggie there.

The agency in my game will be called the Institute. They will claim to be an offshoot of the NSA, but in a nice rip from Alias, they're not. I haven't decided just how not nice they'll really be, though, or what ties they'll have to the main villain of the piece...

My main villain will be the Umbrella corporation. Yes, I'm going to slowly work in some bits and pieces of Resident Evil, although Umbrella will be responsible for far more than just zombies (I have a copy of Digital Burn, so there may be some cyborgs and other things of the cyber sort as well)... there's a possibility of some D&D monsters finding their way into the game, d20 Modern style, as a result of Umbrella as well.

I know that one of the group's early missions, before the Umbrella stuff is discovered, will involve hunting down a rogue agent. Now, in true Bourne Identity fashion, this agent isn't really rogue, but is amnesiac. But even when the players find this out, their orders are still to eliminate.

I was toying with a 24-style race against time of some sort too, but I haven't taken the idea any further than that.

So that's what I've got so far. Suggestions, comments, ideas?

Their first adventure book just came out- Gentleman's Agreement. It is a good book.

Your ideas sound fun.

I am going to do something with zombies as well, but as a result of a something I saw on 60 minutes (using pace-maker-like devices in the brain), but that will be in the long run.

I have not seen Alias, but you could have this NSA-fake organization be really funded by an OPEC-like organization. A conglomeration of economic powers that uses these spies to steal tech secrets and remove rivals for them.

Don't feel dumb. *shrug* They are not mentioned that much - and then it is usually only in news analysis shows.

I like to think of them as mid-card bad guys- almost as bad as the UN, but not quite. :D

Sounds like a lot of fun you have planned Surfmonkey.

Sagan, i'm just curious, and certainly not trying to start an argument, but what makes you say that about the UN?

I only ask, because i'm beginning to see a lot of American (mostly) people muttering about the UN being "bad guys" and wondered what made them think so..

Political discussions are not allowed on these boards- so lets say I was joking. ;)

Lets just leave it at issues of organization and sovereignty.
