Ok, let's see if I got this right...if it works, there will be some pictures of my Orcz game. The others can be seen at the Game Day site.

'Tis a thing of beauty, it is. *sniff*

I especially like the dead mini-treant in the middle of the Elven Forest Village, and the riding butterfly on the castle tower.

And you have GOT to relate the story of how the Paladin lost his Paladinhood. Piratecat will be pleased with that one. :)

First up, you can find the gallery of other pics here.

Some background laid for the Orcz adventure can be found here.

The result was this:

A party of NPC's, led by a Paladin had stolen away the women and children of the Black Sack Orc tribe with the Paladin intending to "show them the light of Pelor". The Orcish PC's gave chase. After the party of Orcs wrung the location from the corpses of a group of Elves, they made their way to Sir Peledor's (the Paladin in question) stronghold, Justkeep. They battled their way into the courtyard where a temple to Pelor was under construction and it was there that Sir Peledor confronted them directly.

Thag (the Wizard's apprentice with a 6 intelligence), charged Sir Peledor's companion, the Halfling Rogue who stood nearby, and struck him mightily with his "staff" (greatclub actually). In response, Peledor drew his longsword and struck Thag for a significant amount of damage. I then asked Thag's player to make a Fortitude Save against the poison.

"POISON??!!", cried the player (and a couple of others at the table as well).

"That's the exact same thing that Peledor says," I responded.

It turned out that the female Orcs had surmised from the Paladin's preaching that Pelor frowned upon the sorts of vile tactics employed by the Orcs and other humanoids. So they had concocted a very mild poison from bad wine, rotted food and just a touch of fecal matter and slipped it into his scabbard while he was sermonizing to the Orcish children. When he attacked with the sword in question, he lost his Paladinhood (and a host of other "holy" benefits that accrued from his keep being sited on a place holy to Pelor).

I pretty much stole the whole concept from one of the "Paladin Threads" in the General forum where some of the more militant GM's were saying that even with a complete lack of malice aforethought, a Paladin could lose his virtue. The concept of him being required to spare the women and children for "re-education" spawned from the same thread.

I think the biggest laugh I got was when the Halfling Rogue shouted out (after seeing the black liquid dripping from Peledor's blade), "OH SNAP!! I did NOT just see THAT!

Clueless, Gerzel, TGryph, and anyone else that played or DMed in a game with me on Saturday:

What other RPGs do y'all like to play aside from the ones we were in that day? I know Clueless likes Shadowrun, and I remember TGryph was playing another game I had never heard of before after ours, but what else?

I'm trying to decide what I want to run at the next Game Day, and I was pretty happy with the company I was in at this Game Day, so I wanted to try to set up something that you might want to play in. Without any input, I'm leaning toward a Forgotten Realms 3E/3.5E game, but its early on, yet, and could easily change..... :)

Shadowrun (which I have another plot for for the next one already in mind), Planescape (shameless plug: www.planewalker.com), Call of Cthulhu (preferrably modern setting). I've gotten fantasied out over the years from too many people in the area *always* wanting to play FR or generic fantasy - that it's become a matter of lack of inspiration for character ideas. For a fantasy game to snag me I'd actually need somethign really appealing plot/character or story wise.

The other game I played was Burning Wheel, but to me a Con is a place to try different games. I am particularly interested in seeing HeroQuest and maybe the Conan RPG but I am up for pretty much anything!

Hope to see you all again soon!

Adventure, Exalted (takes some getting used to in terms of combat system), Feng Shui, the new WOD (it looks much more efficent), or Mage.

I should be able to pull e-mail addresses for all the participants off of the Game Day website and get them to Mark in the next couple of days.

It'll help if you also include their EN World screenname, so that I can be sure I do not send someone a prize that they might have won before (or even a duplicate of something they have previously purchased.) Thanks and I'll keep my eyes open for the email.

Great pics, btw! I'm going to have to do some major building before late October so that my gameday slot has some cool scenery for the photos! :)

Mark, I'll be sending along these e-mails and associated screen names (where available) in the next couple of days.

On the building of scenery, I highly recommend that you make friends with some folks who play Warhammer or other tabletop battle game. I got the castle from a friend of mine who bought it for that purpose. But I built the Elven Tree Fortress myself. You'll note that I made liberal use of some small sized bird houses I bought (for cheap!) at the local hobby store. The rest is made from a cedar stump, some bass wood and moss I got from the yard.

HARP Stuff

I was just curious about who won the HARP Freebies Raslyn provided, and what you think of them. Also maybe later on I could get an update from the crew I gamed with that got the core rulebook prizes. I hope you all enjoy them as much as I did running the game! :)
