Need some help related to players

First Post
After only two sessions, one of my players has decided to drop out. It wasn't me, and it certainly wasn't any of the other players, either. He has actually been diagnosed with adult onset ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder). Now, imagine trying to sit at the gaming table for a 5 or 6 hour session with ADD. His limit for anything is about 2-2 1/2 hours (about the length of a feature film). Regardless, we lost one of the core characters, as the background behind the character was crucial to the entire plot-line and story. I can fudge it, but it just won't be the same, and I am already responsible for one NPC that is needed in the group (the cleric aka "walking ambulance").

So, that is the problem, and here is the "help" request. Is there a board or link to this fine group of people in EnWorld that includes a listing of all the players looking for games that are NOT online? What I mean is, short of going to the closest university (a good 30 minutes away) where many gamers may possibly be found, any suggestions on how I can find gamers in my area? I have already introduced the game to a co-worker, and I would prefer not having to do that again. Does EnWorld have such a database of players looking for a game? Does anyone in the EnWorld community live even remotely close to Medina, Ohio that would be willing to join me? Or am I destined to kill off one of the best developed PC's simply because I can't run an adventure AND play two NPC's at the same time?

Help?!?!

I've actually wondered the same thing. There really should be a gamers seeking gamers database somewhere. Not just a message board, but an actual online database with feedback, etc.

If no one knows of one, maybe some people here can get together and create one.

Assuming you have a semi-local gaming store, you could look around there. Alternately, there's the Leadership feat.

and Medina a little to far for me ;)

Hey Crothian, I found this part of EnWorld about 5 minutes AFTER I posted this thread. So sorry to everyone for having to read my pity-party story.

And yes, Medina is a little too far. You are lucky being down in Columbus - many more gamers, at least according to the "Gamers seeking Gamers" forum. Up here in the "semi-north", they are few and far between.

You know, I tried my Leadership skills at work, and it did work out for one co-worker. I am trying my charms on another (I introduced her to the world of Drizz't, and she sucked it in like she was taking a hit on a Salem), but I am not sure how that will go.

In the meantime, i posted on that other forum "Gamers seeking Gamers". But that just sounds so raunchy...

I feel dirty. Sort of.

What, you have time concerns? Post less often! ;)

You're making it tough for people to catch up to you, y'know. :heh:

Has anyone tried to run once-a-month one-shots? That's easier on schedules, I think.

One guy with the 4 kids and the full time job and going to school full time ...well, he has a lot on his plate. The other guy who owns his own business and in a month or two he has to drop out of gaming becasue the work increases to like 90 hours a week for him, so he wants to get some home improvement projects done before that happens. Me, I have nothing but time.

Catch me? My posting habits have fallen to a fraction of what they used to be. I used to post about 5-10 times more in my hay day.

I like one shots, but many of the players perfer a campaign where they play the same character, see the growth and development of it all. So, we save the one shots for Con season.
