Need some new Anime to watch!

Last 7 months I've been watching some Anime and I've run out of my supply last night so I need some new stuff to feed my entertainment desire :]

I've seen:
Ghost in the Shell
Spirited Away
Vampire Hunter D
Ninja Scroll
Princess Mononoke

as movies, this obviously leaves Ghost of the Shell 2 to be seen but I'd like some other excelent suggestions!

As far as Series go I've seen:
Neo Genesis Evangelion
Gundam Wing
Cowboy Bebop
Berserk
Witch Hunter Robin
Ghost in the Shell - Stand alone complex
Record of Lodoss War - OVA and normal series
All DBZ series (I know I know... :o )

I'm looking forward to some excellent suggestions :p I've heard Naruto maybe something to check out? Some of my fellow guildmembers @ WoW are enthusiastic about it.

I've heard quite a bit about Berzerk; a fantasy anime. I've got it on my netflix queue, and it's actually coming up pretty quick; I just need to watch Bad Boyz II, Dragonslayer and all the disks of X-files season 2, and then I'll dive into Berzerk.

JoeGKushner recommended it to me; he could probably give a better report.

I heartily recommend Fullmetal Alchemist. It's got a lot going for it -- an original premise, great animation and voice acting (at least on the dubbed version, I haven't seen it with subtitles), interesting characters, an intriguing plot, comedy, drama, action... it's a great ride.

The similarly-named Full Metal Panic is also pretty decent. The premise is a little unbelievable IMO, and the action is nothing groundbreaking, but the animation is very well done, and it's a pretty funny show.

Finally, I've fallen in love with Azumanga Daioh. Although it's aimed at a young (high school) audience, it's really very good, and a refreshing break when you've had enough of robots and magic gone berserk -- just a group of high school kids interacting on a daily basis, with much wackiness and hilarity ensuing. It's like an all-female teenage hybrid of Peanuts and Seinfeld.

Escaflowne - the series, skip the movie. First episode starts very slow - then the dragon appears.... GREAT Stuff. Story, visuals, music - one of my favorites

Rouinin Kenshin - first two collections (up to episode 60ish - you'll know when to stop - the BIG Plot is resolved) Samurai action in the Mejei (sp?) era - Top notch stuff!

Trigun - A western on a desert planet far in the future. First half of series fairly light hearted, second half gets fairly grim.

For Movies: The rest of Miyasaski's collection: Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, Porco Rosso, Laputa: Castle in the Sky all great stuff Kiki's Delivery and Totoro are aimed at a younger audience, but worth a rent if nothing else.

I would have to agree with what Zog said that the Miyasaski's collection is worth the effort. Anyone who makes a movie about a pig that flys, Porco Rosso, is grand in my books.

lol ok thanks guys :) Hope some more idea pop up from people but I've heard good things about Full Metal Alchemist earlier as well. Gonna dig into that first.

Hellsing: Did you like Bebop and Vampire Hunter D? Then you'll like this. A slick, stylish vampire blasting series, great design and cast. Alucard (NOT ARUCARD!) and Paladin Andersong are great characters. The dub is very well done too.

Trigun: So damn entertaining! Sci-fi western gunslinging with one of the strangest heroes ever. The second half also features one of the most creepy villains I've seen to date in Legato Bluesummers.

Azumanga Daioh!: "I am not a cat. I am Chiyo-Chan's father!" Filby's description of it as a hybrid of Peanuts and Seinfeld is right on the money. I love this series to bits.

Haibane Renmei: Nothing is happening, and yet I can't look away. yoshitshi ABe's work can be an acquired taste (tehXnolyze, anyone?), and this is no exception. A town that is literally nowhere, inhabited by both humans and flightless angelic beings, the Haibane. Not much seems to happen, you'll be left with questions, but sit back and enjoy the view. I know I did.

Ruroni Kenshin: Don't listen to Zog, watch all three seasons (Wandering Samurai, Legend of Kyoto, Tales of the Meiji), as well as "Trust" and "Betrayal", the first two OAVs. Legend of Kyoto is BY FAR the best one, but its worth watching season 3 so you can understand the third OAV, "Reflections". Just don't blame me for how you feel after Reflections, OK.

Slayers (series): The antidote to Berserk. Its like a D&D campaign gone HORRIBLY wrong, spells need to be negotiated with, everyone's chaotic stupid, wants money, and there's never enough to eat. I fell off the couch in hysterics the first time I watched it. To describe Lina Inverse as the queen of overkill is an understatement.

For movies, ANYTHING from Ghibli. Especially Nausicaa and Porco Rosso, then Princess Mononoke. I don't care if you've already seen it!

And Beserk does indeed rock.

Macross Plus. There are four episodes on 2 DVDs. There is also a movie version. Beautiful animation and an interesting story. Its a standalone story that requires no prior knowledge of the Macross universe.

The first 36 episodes of Robotech is from a series known as SDF Macross in Japan in the early 80's. Although the animation is the same, Harmony Gold significantly changed the storyline to fit in with their Robotech concept when it was dubbed and released in the US.

Macross Plus is a recently released (mid 90's) sequel to the original Japanese Macross storyline, though its self-contained.

I also rather like the animation for Zoids. Though, I have never seen the whole series.

I also recommend Appleseed. The new CG version or the original anime. Beautiful animation and its by Masamune Shirow, the creator of Ghost in the Shell.

I also recommend Fist of the North Star. The animation is dated, but its brutal, over the top violence and the fact that I consider it one of the best depictions of epic level god like characters outside of Dragonball make it worth seeing at least once. Its also guaranteed to be quoted like crazy at the game table.
