Hi all this is Lansolyn obvioulsy :)

I am working on two other things besides my dungeon.

A) I am working on scripting an item upgrade shop. This will be very expensive, and my not appear for a while. (And are 110% completely subject to Morrus' approval.)

B) I am also trying to work on a system where you can lose your level, and then get that level in xp back, so that you can rechoose the abilities for that level. (I'm working on it Big E. =)) Notice that with the current idea for scripting that I have if you are partially through the level it will reset you back to the beginning of that level. IE If you are 10.5 and you want to redo your choices for your 10th level, you would lose that level and then regain 9000 xp (to get you up to 10th level.) Thus you would be at 10.0. I am might be able to fix this before it goes live. IF it goes live. Once again this is 110% dependant on Morrus' approval. So if you want it, butter him up!

Thanks :)

There is already such a thing in one of Adam Miller's module.
Either the Shadowlords or Dreamcatcher series, I can't remember exactly.
It sets you back to level 1 and gives you back XP everytime you level, until you reach the number you had at the beginning...

I used that device to replace one feat, but had to redo everything anyway. ;)

Not too keen on the above idea..its just a bit tooo convenient.. people redoing levels completely changing the concept of a character down the line... wizard today make some wands, scrolls, then change and be a paladin tomorrow, redoing levels to maximise hit points rolls etc.. its just a bit OTT. I much prefer this as it is if you mess up on "a" level you ask a DM he remove the last level you gained (and doesnt replace it) and then you head out and earn it back and correct the mistake. That way a mistake can be fixed but not in a way that is overly convenient and abusable.

just my two penneth.

Really like the idea of an item upgrade shop though.. as this would give us a chance to enchant some of the other weapon types like some of the CEP weapons (only some of which have made it into the module to date), or enchant some of the existing weapons and armours that there are not particularly great enchanted versions of like Katanas and mage robes for example.. or even some of those nice Engel Clothes.

IIRC, Seviss had a "Fiendish Forge" that could be used to upgrade weapons and add special qualities. You needed some items (such as 10 diamonds, for exemple) and lots of money. Perhaps you can salvage some of the codes from that...

One server I've played on had an interesting way of doing it, basically there were hidden alters scattered throughout the various locales and dungeons, all guarded... but a wizard or sorceror and only then who visited these places could get a power stone that was a charged item (5 charges) that would add a specific trait to a weapon or armour via the Add Property function. In this way it was kinda cool you had to adventure to improve your bits it wasnt just a matter of money... these alters also worked kinda as a reward for adventuring being the proze at the end of the dungoen so to speak... the better the property it adds the more dangerous the location the alter is located.... some had a +1d4 elemental damage type bonus, others a keen, some an on hit effect... the only effects that was not included in these altars was the basic enhancment bonus, those could be bought at the forge in town for a number of crystals that monsters occassionally dropped and a GP amount. There were of course magic items to find too but the best weapons and armour could only be achieved through improvement by seeking out these altars.

just a thought...

well now...

The problem with making areas around the world where you would have to go to upgrade your armor is simple. I don't have access to the entire world to create these little cubby holes. I can make such areas in my own dungeon, but that's all I can do now.

I am thinking about creating a merchant where you can buy items to upgrade the equipment, we can have 2 merchants (I'd be happy to build them.) One a basic merchant that sells stuff like "keen" or "+1d4" elemental or stuff like that. But then you could have an advanced merchant in a rough neighborhood where he sells better stuff. But I'd really need to get a go ahead from morrus before I even bothered starting to do that.

I think I'd be happy to go with the majority or a comprimise so just let me know what you all would want and if it's possible I'll see if I can do it.

Personally, I'd love it if all of the equipment in the shops were mundane, and people had to enhance their own stuff up. It would be perfect, IMO.
I'd love that, too -- but I fear that not many would agree with us!
