And I was like, 10 years old and for me, it was the. Best. Movie. Evah!

I was so disappointed with The Shadow. OTOH, I like The Phantom, which tanked even worse.

Why like the second and not the first? The Shadow kept making the genre out to be a joke -- Baldwin was utterly snarky in the role; The Phantom played true to genre, even if that seemed goofy at times.

So if Sky Captain feels more like a tale told in the adventure pulps or comics of the 30s, I'm all for it! If it moves into a more modern sensibility, I will be disappointed.
