D&D (2024) New Spell: Befuddlement

Just some guy
This seems to be an entirely new spell. 8th level enchantment: Target makes an INT save, taking 10d12 psychic damage, and it can't cast spells or use the Magic action. It can repeat the saving throw at the END OF EVERY 30 DAYS. It can be ended by Greater Restoration, Heal, or Wish.
Half damage only on successful save.

That would be brutal against low level players.

Edit: This actually seems to be the replacement for the Feeblemind spell. It's gone!

You mean, as 10d12 probably outright kills them?

I mean, it's an 8th level spell.

Abi-Dalzim’s Horrid Wilting does 12d8 damage to a 30ft cube, so average 54 damage. That'll either wipe outright or set up for a wipe an entire low-level party.

Incendiary Cloud or Tsunami almost certainly would.

Glad to see at least one offensive spell specifically for bullying spellcasters though! There are tons of ways to mess with melees or non-magic ranged.

But even if they get revivified, that 30 days...I suppose it is less brutal than the old Feeblemind, which this spell seems to replace.
It's nasty against players, but I'm worried that it's stealth-nerfed against monsters / NPCs, since supposedly a lot of them will be using custom attacks instead of named spells. I wonder whether such actions will still be defined as Magic actions?
