And if you didn't need to be in cover, then the ability could just read "your attack doesn't end the invisible condition". They specify needing cover, because the intent of the stealth rules are needing to break line of sight.

And if the hiding woman moves in front of you, she is no longer hiding, is she?
Except she is, until I successfully take an action to make a perception check.

Did someone ask Crawford an ''explain me like I'm 5 yo'' on a socials? I'm pretty sure even the designer cant explain the logical procedure of the stealth rules in 3-4 easy to follow steps. After a massive playtest, the best they could get was this convoluted mess?

Honestly, I think one of the big issues people are having here is that the word "invisible" has a load of baggage from fantasy fiction, superheroes, etc. You hear invisible, you think Invisible Man, you think magical powers. But invisible also just means "not visible" and I believe that's the sense in which the condition uses it. Ideally we'd have some other word that didn't carry all those connotations, like "unvisible" or something, but we don't.

They are trying to codify something that requires common sense to implement. The previous version didn't allow you to move sliently behind someone's back if they have direct line of sight even if they have no reason to look in your direction, even in low light conditions.
