New Thieves World Series

First Post
Saw it today, a new thieves world series. It takes place long after the characters of the old thieves world have passed on and are distant memories.

Some of the writers this time around are:

Dennis L. McKiernan (better short story writer than he is a novelist)
Raymond E. Fiest (have not read much of his stuff)
Micky Z. Richthart

And some others I recognised...

Looking forward to reading these.

The editor is Lynn Abby.

Aaron.

.

We can only hope.

That series started with such promise and then munchkins who thought themselves writers took over.

So far, the new series has been pretty good. It starts out with the novel called Sanctuary. The novel I found very good. The first collection of short stories is called Turning Points. I liked the short stories and found many of the characters well done. I haven't heard of the next book and am waiting for it patiently.

I'm a huge Thieves World fan. I have all the old collections of short stories plus many of the novels. I even have most of the gaming stuff :D

Still use my box set, great city material! :)

I have to check it out, sounds like it is starting good, the problem is what happens after five novels, group efforts seem to start to suck after that.

That boxed set has one of the best city random encounter tables of all time. I love that boxed set. They don't make them like that anymore.

I've read both new anthologies and I was pleased. I stopped the original series around about the time the Beysib arrived, so some of the things mentioned were a surprise. However, I'm living proof you don't need to have been a slavish fan of the first to enjoy the second series. Really, almost all the characters are new, and the ones that do make appearances from the first series are dealt with very nicely.
