New Tribal World

CLASSES
Barbarian: I think barbarians shouldn't exist, but I don't know. Any ideas? The deities and demigods book has an alternate barbarian that is a prestige class.
Bard: Bardic magic would need to be changed.
Cleric: Clerics become much less armor users.
Druid: Druids become shamans
Fighter: Fighters don't use armor as much.
Monk: Monks would be more powerful, if they were allowed, which they might not be.
Paladin: Paladins are probably not going to be allowed.
Ranger: Rangers favored enemy is far more worthless, the ranger would have to be changed big time.
Sorcerer: Sorcerers might take the path of the wizard and be removed, or maybe not. All magic would be divine if they and the wizards are removed.
Wizard: Wizards are gone (most likely).

I didn't put any definates in the above listing. If barbarians are allowed, shouldn't there be other classes that are fighting styles, like the algai'd'siswai in Wheel of Time.

EDIT: changed some misleading wording. Took out the last paragraph.

IDEAS
I have no ideas for races.

Some mechanics that could be used: VP/WP, Defense bonus, Reputation, Backgrounds, Background feats. Anyones you guys like in particular? I personally really like Backgrounds and Background feats.

Any other mechanics I missed?

Barbarian: I think they should. They embody that which is tribal.

Bard: Maybe call them Lorekeepers. Monte has a GREAT Alternate Bard

Cleric: No Opinion

Druid: No opinion

Fighter: A dragon had Cord, Bone and Wood Armor. GREAT article!!

Monk: Why? Why more powerful. They master the body. They are tribalistic.

Paladin: No opinon

Ranger: how do you plan on doiing this?

Sorcerer: I still like my idea =)

Wizard: Thats fine.

I have the dragon with the cord armor and all that, I had forgotten about it; Good idea. I don't remember why I originally said that monks were more powerful, but I think I might have said it because no one can use armor, so the wisdom bonus to ac would really help a monk. I don't know how to rework the ranger, but I am not really a fan of weakened casting like bards, rangers, and paladins.

Your sorcerer idea could work, I agree, but how would you make it more tribal. Natural power might not go against the tribal feeling, but there is nothing inherently tribal about it.

I really like a lot of the ideas you've come up with here... very similar to a setting I was trying to design a few months back. A few comments:

- I like the idea of background feats/regional feats.
- For changing the ranger, you may want to think about how you view the ranger. If the class still has a nature slant to it, you may want to add a favoured terrain bonus (seen it in a bunch of alt. rangers out here). Plus, with the nature of the deities of the world, maybe they have a better connection with the animals? If you see the ranger primarily as a fighter, you may just remove some of the less useful stuff and swap them for feats.

Hope that helps.
