If the class still has a nature slant to it, you may want to add a favoured terrain bonus (seen it in a bunch of alt. rangers out here). Plus, with the nature of the deities of the world, maybe they have a better connection with the animals? If you see the ranger primarily as a fighter, you may just remove some of the less useful stuff and swap them for feats.
The ranger could be taken a number of different ways in this world; some ideas are:
- The ranger could be much more of an animal master. These could even be taken so far that the ranger gains abilities based on an animal and such, but then the ranger would be a ranger in name only.
- The ranger could be much more of a fighter. Maybe swip the favored enemy for some fighter combat feats. Give them some two weapon fighting abilities to set them apart and take away their casting power.
- The ranger could become more nature powered. Take away some fighting ability and their bonus feats at first level, give them much better casting power and spells that are good.
- The ranger could be taken out.
Any ideas?
