New Warlock Invocations

Dreadful Eye (dark invocation)
Equivalent Level: 8th
Description: One of your eyes turns to a black orb of terrible malevolence. You gain a +10 bonus on Intimidate, Search, Spot checks and you can use Insanity or Eybebite as standard action. This invocation lasts 24 hours.

Seductive Glamer (least invocation)
Equivalent Level: 2nd
Description:You cover yourself in an illusory facade of seductive beauty. You gain a +5 bonus to Charisma and can re-roll any Bluff, Diplomacy, or Gather Information check in which your gender and appearance make a difference. You must accept the second roll no matter what the result. This facade fades away at the end of 24 hours.

Feed Upon Death
Least Invocation
Equivalent Level: 2nd
If someone dies within 5 feet of you gain 1d4 temporary hit points for each level they possessed when alive and do not require food, water, or sleep for 24 hours.

Hmm... This does seem underpowered. How about this:

Feed Upon Death
Least Invocation
Equivalent Level: 2nd
If someone dies within 10 feet of you gain 1d6 temporary hit points for each level they possessed when alive and do not require food, water, or sleep for 24 hours. For every 10 hp gained you also get a +1 bonus to Strength or Constitution (your choice) up to a maximum +5 bonus. All bonus abilities and hit points are lost at the end of the invocation's duration.

Unfortunately, this invocation would either be of limited use in a given adventure day (how often will you be in melee with something when it dies?), or it just begs for abuse (bag of tricks is your friend...).

I am not sure how to level this. It may need to be scalable and I think maybe it should be a Greater Invocation. This is another version, I keep tweaking it:

Feed on Death (dark invocation, 8th)
Description: If someone dies near you, you gain 1d6 hit points/level of the deceased and you do not require food, water, or sleep for 24 hours. For every 20 hit points you absorb, you gain a +1 Strength or Constitution bonus (your choice). You must invoke this dark power before the first target reaches -10 hit points or less. You must be within 5 feet per level of the target when it dies to leech life force from the dying body as it expires. If multiple people die around you, you derive healing benefits from each one. You can increase your hit points to up to double your normal maximum. This invocation ends after 24 hours, upon which any extra hit points and bonus attribute points are lost.

Thoughts?

Actually, I'd try to base it on existing material (which also makes it easier to adjudicate). How about making it a least invocation that functions exactly as Death Knell? That way, it takes an action to use it, it has a limited duration, and it can only be used on dying creatures. Maybe also tack on some additional benefit, since it would be very situational otherwise. How about coupling the invocation's effect with a 24h version of Deathwatch, so it's easier for you to identify possible 'candidates' for your invocation?

If you like, this could also be turned into a Lesser, with a function like Consumptive Field (saving you the touch and standard action each time you want to use it).

Both solutions make for flavorful if situational invocations. I could easily see these used by an evil NPC, though most PCs will not spend a precious invocation known here.

Consumptive Field is very close to what I had in mind. Basically my idea was that a warlock could walk around a battlefield or other conflict and soak up power temporarily and get a little healing action from committing the occasional murder. I am going to take a long look at this spell and tweak it a little...

Consider changing it from "dead" to a target at 0 hp or less; Feed on Death then both kills and augments the Warlock. Perhaps also consider extending range to 30 ft and making it an immediate action; the warlock could then benefit from close range kills but is limited to only gaining the benefit once a roun and doesn't have to waste an action to gain the benefit.

This should not require any action, the warlock should just soak up energy from fading life forces. I like the idea of making range scalable but I am not married to it. I am thinking this should be a Greater Invocation instead of a Dark or Least Invocation. Hmm...

How about this:

Description: You create a Consumptive Field with a radius of 5 feet per class level. Anyone who successfully saves against the immediate effect of the field but is reduced to -10 or fewer hit points while in the field by some other cause contributes 1d4 hp per hit die to your total hit points. This invocation lasts for 24 hours.

I am thinking this would be a Greater Invocation because of the duration and scalability. Thoughts?

I like the way Empirate and Stormomu were headed with this. Perhaps it would work something along the lines of a coup de grace which in turn gives the benefits described. Imagine the Warlock reaches a hand toward the target and spends the round ripping the remaining life force from his target and gaining the benefits at the end of the round. As a spell like ability it can be interrupted as a coup can, but he gets his concentration check, (and if there are no enemies left standing...). Not necessarily as situational as one may think, someone seems to die in most encounters and if there are mass opponents, well, that is just many candidates. It would definitely be a candidate to add to some evil NPCs, and I can see many a former player of mine making great use of this when they had...questionable morals.

Also, as a lesser version, one that sucks some of the energy but leaves the target just weakened, but still alive (Unless it is really far gone). It would be a standard action that pulls a single HP per two lvls (of the Warlock) of energy from the target causing unconsciousness in the target (unless a save is reached if above 0 HP). Keep the range to close (5ft) or touch for those that like to augment their touches to close and definitely add to the Dark list. In both cases, you are looking at helpless targets for the most part, so targetting would be almost a nonissue.

I like this, but I am en evil DM, so I am a bit biased...
