[NFL] Pats vs. Colts - make your prediction here!

My ideal score: Colts 35 Pats 3 (Yes, the Pats are my personal football arch-nemesis :] )

My actual guess: Colts 17 Pats 13
-- Defense (and/or over-nervous offence) will rule the day.

I have been surprised at how the Texans have played well in several games this year, and I think the Titans are one of the strongest teams in the NFL.

Well this statement certainly gives me some insight...

LOL!!! :p

Relatively low-scoring games are not uncommon in highly-hyped matchups protrayed as titanic offensive struggles.
Yeah, I actually wouldn't be surprised if it was fairly low-scoring. You can bet both defenses have been studying the opponent's offense for a lot longer than a week. :)

Oh, and by the way: GO PACK GO!

Best. Overtime. Evar!!

The over-under is 56!! In no way will this be low-scoring. That's just ridiculous.

No, it's not. It's not likely, but it's hardly unheard of.

See http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/7376142 for a little bit of history on a smilarly big regular season game in 1990.

There have been many occasions where the Colts -- quite possibly the best offensive team over the past decade -- have been held under three touchdowns, sometimes by less than stellar defenses. The 1996 Packers, the team I -- and a lot of experts who aren't Packers fans -- consider the best team of all time and which featured the NFL's #1 offense and #1 defense that year, lost three games, one of them a low-storing affair to a pre-Manning Colts team that finished the season 3-13. The most offensively-oriented version of Tom Brady's Patriots prior to this one -- the 2004 team -- beat the Jets (who would finish 10-6 to the Pats 14-2, Super Bowl champions) 13-7.

:D indeed. I grew up in Green Bay. I have season tickets, and a share of stock in the team. I fully expect to have St. Vincent of Lombardi shaking my hand as I go through the pearly gates. ;)

Back on topic: I gotta go with the Pats, unfortunately. I don't much like them, but they're just tremendously dominant right now. They remind me a lot of what the 49ers were like in the late 80s and early 90s: a ton of weapons, and so good at the fundamentals that they can spend time on perfecting the unusual plays.

Just a reminder that the Patriots got caught cheating this season, that's all.

Honestly, so what?

If anyone thinks that what the Pats did (along with a lot of other teams) actually translated into wins that they wouldn't have otherwise had is clueless about what goes on the NFL.

Mangini hates Belichick and wanted to screw the Pats and make an example of them.

All these that keep harping on it (like Peter King, Gregg Easterbrook, etc) are doing it out of a personal agenda against Belichick and the Patriots, for whatever reason.

Roger Goodell specifically said there was no further evidence of any other infraction in the past or that it affected the outcome of any past games. The Pats were punished and the league addressed it. What more can they do?
